weird theories?

does anyone beleive in the theory, "when heading to a destination, you are actually there before you physically arrive at your destination"? or how about the apple is red because we think its red? we got in a big discussion about it at school and it doesnt make sense.

i think that worked for me while in high school......but realized how stupid it was

ya i think they are both very dumb theories, but some girl in class decided to talk about them, and how she believed in them. i was jw if anyone else lived by them, or thought they were true.

An apple is red because once opon a time someone decided to attach names to all the colors of the rainbow. Therefore because an apple is red(or green & tan in some cases)it is red! Hard to understand? No.

Things are what you want them to be, but for the sake of simplifying things somewhat, we tend to standardize more or less what we think they are. For example, In America the apple is "red" in Mexico the apple is "rojo" understand what I'm getting at? It doesn't change that it's still an apple (or whatever name you want to call it, it will always be what it is no matter what it's called)

The Matrix and Matrix Reloaded movies are actually based on many philosiphers' philosiphies, including Sacrotes and Rene Decartes'. For example, Rene Decartes has a philosiphy that questions this plane of reality that we are in. He says it is possible for us to all be unconsious bodies floating in vats of nourashing chemicals and and there is someone or something that uses a machine that sends waves of electrons and such to our brains which give us sensations of taste, touch, smell, sight, etc. Therefore, everything that is happening around us, even us ourselves are not even real but all an illusion created by someone or something to blind us from the truth.

Another example by Rene Decartes is dreams. Have u ever had a dream where it seemed so real that u thought it was true but then u woke up? Well how do we know if we are not living in a dream and that dream never ends and our whole lives are just sequels of never ending dreams? Sure you can tell if you or dreaming or walking, but how can you know what walking feels like when u have never walked before in the "real" plane of reality?

"What is certain? How do we know what is real, how do we know what is certain? What IS "know"? What if you're not really sitting here reading this thread, what if you're really floating in a vat and your mind is watching a puppet show? Do you KNOW ? What is the time? Do you think you know just because the clock says 6:50? What if the clock was 2 minutes late? 2 minutes fast? Do you know if you're sitting in a chair? What if you just THINK you are and you just believe because you see it and feel it? Physical touching is not what defines REAL. So what is certain?
Nothing.

Should u accept this world you are in? Or do you want to find out what IS real.
Ask yourselves this:
Is ignorance bliss? Or is the truth worth knowing no matter what?

These are just some examples i've taken out of the book "The Matrix and Philosiphy. These are not MY ideas, heck I dont even believe in em haha. I just put it here to stir up some thoughts cuz after all, this IS a philosiphy board.

Here's another wierd theory, what if everything looks wider or narrower to different people? You would'nt know because you've never seen the world through anyone else's eyes but yours.

Another one: Maybe to some people, thier heads always stay still in one position but thier bodies (and the world) just moves, or it seems like that to them.

Yet another one: Maybe we are all exactly the same whern we are born until we start interacting with things around us since the moment of our births. Imagine if the temperature of the hospital you were born in could have an affect on your mentality and the way you think. OR if the first food you ate and the fist piece of nutrition could have an affect on your intelligence :uhoh:

I dont think i would agree that matrix is bullshit. I'm not saying that we are floating in vatt of goo with our minds traped in a computer. I'm saying that the ideas behind the matrix are true, its just dressed up in a movie format so its entertaining.
To take the matrix literaly is akin to studying mechanics by watching the fast and the furious.

To answer some other questions, the only way we experience anything is through our five senses. For instance i hate pickles, but others people like pickles. I find the taste disgusting. The taste is the sense. Now imagine the color red. What if i "see" the color red different than other people, just like how i taste pickles differenly. The color red to me maybe be the color green, and vice versa to you.

You would have to be more specific on the being to somewhere before you arive question. This could have many explainations. This sounds to me like its rooted in quantom physics. The theory that all molocules are connected on a micro level. But i dont want to talk out of my ass, so ill leave that one alone.

when you're at a public place(the mall for example) all of the hottest girls there are all underage:banghead:........i mean once you turn 18, they all seem so young...one day i went to get something at the South Shore Plaza, and it was like the girls there weren't older than 12-13 years of age...but they dressed to look like they were 17-18 which is a totally misleading and horrible thing...it was horrible

same with the sky when you look at a star you are actually seeing how many light years away they are for instance if "Someone" was looking at our planet from another star thhrough a telescope they would see the dinosours becasue of how many light years the earth is from that particular star is kind of freaky>...

Im new but I always have these deep thoughts and have weird theories...so
1. I dont believe in dinosaurs- I just see no reason to.
2. I do believe in ghosts- but I think that if you're being haunted it's not by some stranger. It's probably a relative that's still angry at you. Why would you haunt someone you don't even know?
3. I wish someone would invent some kind of sleep meter- like if I took a short nap and I woke up still tired I wish I could use a sleep meter that would show the exact amount of time I would need to sleep to feel completely energized
