hi all,
i have a '97 540i (a) and have noticed that the viscous cooling fan tends to operate much longer and frequently when i use the aircon.
i thought that the system would have had an electric fan cooling the evaporator plate, or is this done by the cooling fan as well?
problem is that it makes a terrible blowing noise, very unbecomming on the big V8 and also robs the car of some power.

The reason it is loud, shows it is working.
With anything less you would have an over temperature condition.
