What you guys think about this car? Was thinking about maybe trading mine in for a black 6-speed.
Advantages/disadvantages?

The December issue of SCC has a review of the Spec V. This is the same SCC with George's DET Hybrid-How-To. I was really amped about the Spec V until I read their review of it. Only 141 HP and 150 LB-FT on the dyno. And it made slower quarter mile times than the SR20DE-equipped Sentra SE. I'm sure the SE-R and the SE-R Spec V handle pretty sweet, but I'm a little dissapointed with the QR25DE. I also read a SCC article on this engine, and it seems like its not as solid as the SR20DE. So IMO the new Sentra SE-R doesn't quite live up to the SE-R legacy. :(
At first I was turned off by the looks of it(front end kinda looks like a Frontier), but now its grown on me. For the price its a pretty tight car. I'm still waiting for the Lancer EVO VII to come stateside.

Start saving your pennies. BTW I moved this from the G20 forum.

I don't know about the 1/4 mile times being slower than a sentra se. 141hp at the wheels is pretty damn good. And 150lbs of torque is pretty good also. It would rank up their with the Celica GT-S and the RSX-S. Not bad at all. It has more torque than both.

i just test drove a spec v and let me tell you i'm very impressed. i've seen some quality complaints but i've yet to hear of any from my friend. the outstanding quality of this car is its handling. i thought my g was an excellent handler but i'll tell you what that spec v will kill it. I really don't think there is a better all around performer for the price of 18000. The shifter feel didn't even bother me , i heard so many complaints about the shifterbut i got used to it quickly. Simply put the car is a beast....good job nissan

Picked it up tonight. Black 6-spd. Pretty basic, I didnt go with the Rockford system or the sunroof, because my MTX system kicks way more ass and the sunroof adds weight. I test drove it Saturday and I scared the shit out of the saleman, because it was off the HEEEZZZ. I also almost totaled it tonight by banking a turn TOO fast and fishtail out of control. JEEZ I was pissed. But anyway its sitting in my driveway as I type. LATERZ :flipa:

this thing handles great but what gets me the most is the drivetrain loss
SE-R has a 20% loss
but teh SVT focus has 170hp at the flywheel and manges to get 147hp to the ground only a 14%loss however the se-r does have a slight weight advantage
i cant wait to see these cars go head to head

Nah I don't...
Go and take a peek in the G20 sections and see if anyone listed any dyno's....

I think the resonator I put in is robbing me of some power. I wasn't really on the ball and didn't notice if it was louvered or perferated core. :( I suspect it's louvered. My torque went down a lot since I did that change.
BTW, as far as the Spec-V being slower than the the 2.0SE in the 1/4, that can be attributed partly to the gearing. Race a Spec-V on the highway and kiss your ass good bye. :D
Secondly it's suspected that the drivetrain loss on the Spec-V is in relation to the shitty dual-mass flywheel they put on it. :( That would cause bad inertial dyno numbers but a brake dyno shouldn't be effected by it. If you're really into the number I guess.
