the zc's are alot cheaper, and the b series you need more parts such as mounts, tranny, axles, etc.

everyone wants b16s so they can say they have VTEC. prices on them are going up because the SiR wasnt as common as ZC powered cars in japan.

ok, so i should have said "lots" in stead of "everyone", but theres tons of show cars with b16s, and i know they didnt do it to go fast, they did it for show points.

Riiiiiiight. They're more expensive because they're a better platform.. People who are into building engines know this, and will pay more. ZCs are cheap because they give people trouble sometimes, and are hard to find parts for.

ZC is definatley an easy swap, but doesn't compare to the B16 if you want a quick car.

I no doubt know that B16's are faster than ZC's, but my ZC with I/H/E hangs pretty well with the B16's. They almost always beat me (depending on driver) but Ive never gotten my ass handed to me. I think with a few more mods and internal work, I could beat most B16's with about the same amount of money invested into just getting a B16. They are definitly more reliable and easier to find parts for but I still got faith in the good 'ol ZC :evillol: But the debate between ZCs and B16s will never end, someone will always have something else to say about the other. Personally, I have a ZC but would prefer a B16 but im a broke college student. Ill make do with what I have though and im happy with it.

I have had bolth motors and have a few conclusion from that

ZC
Pros:
- relatively low cost
- Eazy swap
- can use most of components (transmission, axles...ect)
- pretty good power gain
Con:
- semi imposible to find parts like valve cover studs
- reliabilty can be an issue
- Little to no aftermarket support
- never offered in any shape or form in North america other than Import

Concusion: Relatively easy swap for a handy man with basic hand tools and access to the internet. Ideal customers are people who want a little more power without breaking the bank.

B16
Pros:
- Good power
- fairly easy swap
- Vtec
- good aftermarket support
- was available in NA but only in ODB-1 and above
cons:
- Need special parts Like Motor Mounts, shifter linkage
- need to replace Transmission to a B-series
- more expensive than it's d-series brother

conclusion : Performance Motor, for people who want high performance from their car Or wanna brag they have "v-tech". Swap is relatively simple but does however require some special parts. Ideal customer Performance Nut or Poser.

my 0.02$

A B16 with I/H/E would hand it to you. (depending on the driver and tranny they have)

Kunundrum pretty much summed it up.. ZC is a good motor if you just want to be quick for not too much $$, but if you have it and you want to be FAST, B16 is the way to go.

i know they are a better platform, i have one. but people who are into building engines usually get a b18c1 to start off with, because it is basically the all around best platform. the price of the b16 is going up because its the cheapest b-series vtec engine, and its the easiest way to get DOHC vtec power. i love the b16 a lot, but i also know that every little punk kid in my town would love to steal my car and take the motor, even though they havent the slightest clue how they are gonna get it in their car and running.
