what makes the ls1 so much faster than say a 350 that came out of a 1500 gmc truck? is it the engine itself or is it some thig with the way its geared??? thanks.

I heard the lower end of the LS1's are the same as the corvette and camaros. Those seem to be pretty fast :iceslolan I also heard that most components are aluminum. could be wrong though

LS1s are aluminum block, aluminum heads, so there you save weight, they have a performance cam, more performance oreiented heads(valves, cc's, porting) i'm guessing they have more compression, and they can probably rev higher, LS1s are in all new Vettes, and SS Camaro, (maybe Z28?)

A friend of mine has a 1998 camaro ss. I asked him about his motor and he said it came stock with LS1, 6 speed and 320 hp. I also asked him if he was going to do any mods and he said no because wants to keep it in the same condition as he bought it.
