Obc Backlite On--but No Numbers

about a year ago the battery ran out in our 1986 635. We replaced the battery, and the radio now needs a code to work. We can get that fixed by going to the dealer and looking up the code. But also, the OBC does not show any data, we can just see the backlight on. Is the OBC linked to the radio anti theft device, so that if we fix the radio, we fix the OBC? Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated

it should not be affected by the battery replacement that casued the radio to need the code input.
Also look in the back of the radio book in the glove box for the code.
