I've seen 2Gs with RX7 rims
those are 16x8
I never seen anything wider

it depends on how large the offset of the rim is. I dunno how wide is too wide though. Im pretty sure your could go bigger than 8

what size wheels and tires?

i'm on 225/45/17
thought its close to stock specs @ 60mph i'm goin 2mph slower than what the speedo says

Saying you have 30s doesnt help, unless you list the other numbers. ;) The idea is to keep the diamter stock, or close to it. So if stock is 16/60s, 17/50s would be the same etc. Check out tirerack.com, I belive its that site that has a calc to see how far off your speedo will be (in percentage).

I'm also on p215/50R17's and i roll ~3mph slower than what speedo is reading.

Its also important to note that MAzda's offset is off for our cars. PEople need spacers to push them out, but I forget the thickness. I use the 17" mazda millenia wheels (17lbs) but with new tires they rub on the inside for a couple days. Then they're "csutom" fit ;)
