I feel your pain. Honda keeps denying the sale of a Type R in the US, while other manufacturers are releasing some great cars here, the WRX, STI and Evolution for example. The new civic SI isn't bad, but I too would rather buy an SRT-4 for the same price. The S2000 is sweet, but its a bit expensive, and for that price, I could get an STI and spank it. I think if honda built a factory turbo, and priced it competitively, it would sell. What would really turn heads would be a sweet RWD sport coupe, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
If anyone at honda that has any pull is reading this, then get a clue and give us something worth buying. You are losing a good portion of the sport compact market to these other manufacturers. Yes, the honda aftermarket is great, but people want something fast right from the dealership. And I would buy one if you guys had the balls to build one.....

You obviously do not grasp what is great about Honda. The fact that Honda prides itself on laying down such high hp per liter motors NA is what makes them great. If you let that slip your mind then why do you even own a Honda? If you want something cheap then get a Dodge. So Dodge slapped a turbo on a 2.0 litre and got those numbers. The S2K has the same size motor w/ no turbo and lays down more. If you can't grasp the concept then you do not deserve to even touch the S2K. Not to mention the fact that the SRT-4 is the first boosted 4 banger Dodge has manufactured. We'll see how dependable the car is within the next 5 years. Show me any other auto company that has produced 1.8 liter that can lay down 200hp or a 1.6 that can lay down 185. You want boost? Buy a different brand of car. You want cheap boost? Buy a Dodge. Damn you Honda? No damn you. I consider myself a purist and all this talk is BLASPHEMY.

But yea, Honda doesn't feel the need to compete with things like the SRT-4, why would they. Shit I tell you what, lets do a race from coast to coast, full speed, and see who rides back with who, I'll give you a SRT-4, I'll take my hatch.

Actually, the SRT-4 has a 2.4L engine and yah, I bet the entire motor and turbo setup was molded out of plastic to gain the $19,995 price tag. I still wouldn't mind having one around to just completely beat on, they are pretty fast.

Woah, someone needs to take a chill pill. Im a Honda person, and probably know the most shit in here. You know, it helps to know about other stuff tha just Hondas. You would then know that Dodge has made plenty of turbo cars, and with success, I might add, and the SRT is the first in about 10 years. Omni GHL-S? Unassuming little piece of shit ran low 15's in the mid 80's, Daytona Shelby-As in Carroll Shelby? Shadow CSX? Spirit R/T? And comparing the S2000 to the SRT? There is a $13,000 difference I believe. Compare the SRT to the Civic Si, since they cost 20K.
As far as laying numbers. SR16VE, beats Honda by 5 HP. Nissan. 190 HP, 1.6 liter.
But, given 20K, id get a white used 2002 RSX-S, and make it into a Integra Type R.

honda is a good manufactuer of high hp vehicles, but they simply cannot compete at the same cost level that the other car makers are putting them out for. 227hp at 20k is amazing, the SRT-4 is very quick and not nearly the first turbo dodge has ever made, even the turbo caravan was pretty quick. the s2k needs a nice SC on it for less money then the 32k price tag so it can compete, at least closer to the EVO and STI.

You are correct about one thing. I actually forgot about the fugly ass Nissan Pulsar. The engine is bad ass. But the blue top has 175hp and the red top has 197hp so yeah they do have Honda beat. As far as Turbo Dodges being a success. :bs: You can count on one hand how many cars are still on the road and for good reason. Oh and the simple fact that you are one of those losers who compare cars by prices and not classes discredits EVERYTHING you claim to know. Yay, for you knowing absolutely too much about nothing at all.

Neons rarely last 60k miles as is, adding a turbocharger to that won't exactly prolong its lifespan... And about the $20k pricetag, all I can say is you get what you pay for. My '00 hatch was $13k new, no options or anything. A $4k engine has brought her to life, and I'd rather have 185hp from a 1.6L than 227hp from a messily-engineered 2.4L turbocharged piece of plastic. Dodge has .8L and compressed air on their side, and what do they create from that? 40 unreliable hp... wow. Oh yeah, then there's the price difference in insurance which I won't even try to compare.

Although I got my info from a couple of years into the scene, that site CONFIRMED all the stuff I know is correct, so I wouldnt call that "being thrashed". And besides, I know about more than Honda's, which you probably dont. So, unless you are ASE certified, and know the vast amount on ALL cars that I do, your words mean little to nothing. And Ive NEVER been proven wrong on this board, or any other. I remember you being a cool guy, what bit you in the ass? :loser:

You want to know what bit me in the ass, this board and the wealth of misinformation and bogus benchracers that hand out information. And then The "I know it all" attitude people who never actually help people, they just post half assed crap to try to make themselves sound smart. As far as ASE, nope, not ASE certified, as a matter of fact an ASE certification means about as much to me as any other piece of paper found in a cracker jack box till it's backed up by action, which I have seen quite a few "I am ASE certified" mechanics that knew about as much about a car as I do about thermal dynamics, not a whole lot. I don't need a piece of paper to tell me what I know, my actions, and experiance speak for themselves. If I was going to get a paying job in the automotive field I would take the test (have taken part of it, didn't do too bad either) for the field I chose, but this is a hobby I have entertained for several years now, not a job An I highly doubt you know more than me about cars, performance, etc... but hey as always you can look it up on the intraw3b to try to sound teh smart. Like I told you before, I have forgotten more about cars than you have actual hands on knowledge, and there really is no need to try and respond with another "I know it all' statement, as no one wants to hear you drone on about how much you know. And yes even though my first car was an Accord, I have since then in the last sixteen years had quite a few other cars, and have built up a few for myself and others, so I know a little bit about other cars out there guy.

As a matter of fact, did you know Diego that hte ASE is broken down into catagories ranging from sales and service to deisel engine to transmission, to brakes ect...so if someone says they're ASE certified it don't mean jackshit unless it is in the field they tested and trained in.

Hondas are Hondas, you can not possibly compare any other car to them. Hondas are just a different animal. You can't compare an S2K to a Neon, if you take care of the S2K it will last 300,000 miles with out anything major breaking, neon? I don't know? Its a dodge, and its FI.
My dad's had his 87' Prelude for 330,000 miles now, had to replace the engine at 300,000 because the timing belt snapped (somewhere around 270,000), I don't know the details but the motor wasn't the same after that. The car hasn't needed any tranny work except for a new clutch. He claims its still as tight and solid as the day he got the car. He takes care of the car but that doesn't keep him from taking it out on the hills every once in a while.
Didn't intend to get into a testimonial there, but I would like to see an American car go that long with out something serious breaking. It just pisses me off having people rant on Honda, they know what there doing. Still it would be nice to see a RWD coupe out of them.

Um, no a POS RT isn't going to beat a ITR, maybe a SRT-4, but not any POS Neon.
i know that the s2000 has a smaller engine and it has more hp but it cost 13k more for what 20 more hp i just think thats BS.
Try driving a s2000, then try complaining about the extra $13,000. I garrantee you, it is worth if over the SRT-4, it has alot better handle, reliability, looks a million times nicer, and the list goes on. It isn't just some slapped together for the mass's turbo project that some company put together in a vain attempt to keep up with the market <cough>srt-4<cough>, it has it's own market.

Then you can put another engine in there and we'll see it blown in another 50,000, if that. Just remember, you get what you pay for. :banghead:
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and say you quoted me by mistake, and then went on your own rant saying the same thing I did, in your own way. But you really should try reading what you're quoting before doing so, and make sure that it makes sense to quote it.

dude are you talking to me? if so i dont hate hondas i own one for a reason becuase they make good cars. im just saying it sucks that they cost so much. the srt-4 isnt the only car out there that can beat a honda, i mean think about it you can buy a EVO for what 28k. do you think thats a bad car to? what about the STI 32k around the same price as they s2000 but look what you get for around the same price a car thats a lot faster and doesnt look to bad.im not just talking about the srt-4 although that is really all that has been talked about i guess maybe a lot of you think im trying to beat up on honda but i not i like hondas i would just like to see the prices come down some i mean come on you wouldnt like the see the rsx-s come down to 19k-20k or the s2000 come down to 25k?

Hey 98-integra I see what you are trying to say and I agree that people should not get all pissed-off about the issue- you're just expressing your opinion- and not dissing honda and their cars. I think it might be nice for honda to go turbo but I like the fact that you can get a N/A honda at a very descent HP rating and boost it yourself. Cuz think- if Honda/Acura keeps producing better cars w/ better hp but N/A -then slapping a turbo or supercharger will smoke most things in the hondas or acuras class. Thats my :2cents: But I hear where you are coming from.
