engine computer into cobra kit

I am trying to help my Grandfather in-law gather info to help wire up a engine and computer and all other required items from a 86 Grand Marquis. He is putting the motor into a Shelby Cobra kit. So far all he has told me is that he went to ford and got the wiring diagram for the engine computer but the colors in the digram don't match the computer.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. If anybody has any pictures, wiring diagrams or any info that could help it I would love to hear from you.
