Its not often us Kiwi's get to show off to the world !!....but well done to Scott Dixon
New Zealand driver Scott Dixon has won the Indy Racing League title in Texas, finishing second to Brazil's Gil de Ferran at the Chevy 500.
The race was shortened by five laps because of a serious late-race crash between Dixon's team mate Tomas Scheckter and Swede Kenny Brack, who had to be cut free from his shattered car and flown to hospital.
Dixon was tied with Brazilian Helio Castroneves heading into the race and was always among the leaders throughout the race.
The 23-year old won three races this season and picks up a US$1 million cheque for his efforts.
Dixon wins the championship with 507 points, 18 ahead of de Ferran with Castroneves in third.
American Dan Wheldon, 25, finished the race third in a Dallara/Honda as he took his first podium spot and also picked up the Rookie of the Year title.
The crash overshadowed any celebrations. Brack, IRL champion in 1998 and Indy 500 winner in 1999, locked wheels with Tomas Scheckter on the back straight heading towards turn three of lap 188 and spun into the catch fence.
IRL officials said he was in serious condition after being taken to the infield care center awake and alert following the accident. He will be airlifted to Dallas' Parkland Hospital.

I've just been watching that crash of Kenny Brack's over and over and i'd have to say it would be one of the worse crashes i have seen.
I thought "there's no way anybody can walk away from that !!"
I hope he's doing fine.
