how much more do you want?
for 500 you can't get much unless you buy a nitrous kit- NX stage 1 or NOS powerfogger kits are like $500-$550

or some nice apc stickers with a apc intake.. but seriously go to a muffler shop and let them bend you some 2.5" piping and buy a cheap muffler and that should be about $350-400, and spend $50 and got a cone filter.. that should be atleast 5-7hp more

J-Spec, you're the man. i laughed for a good minute or 2 when i saw that.
just go with some basic bolt-ons for starters, don't go ape-shit yet until you have some income.

Yeah, Basic Bolton will due for now!
Nitrous Oxide (O-N-O) can lead to expensive repairs if used incorrectly too.
Iwould go with intake and cat back system. (Some shops can fabricate parts of the cat back like the piping that that is cheaper then name brands, might not sound as good but it will give your engine some power)
Ps: please don’t use the word NOS! :nono: Its Nitrous Oxide and if you want derivation it NO2 ! NOS is just company name that manufacture the product that over saturated the market due to flick movies.
good luck!

Yeah,
I agree with them Nitrous can lead to big problems I used a 50 shot in my 90' 240sx when i first got it Big Mistake I bent a Piston rod.. anyways... I would definitley go with the exaust system and while there at it if you do not have any emission laws there you probaly can take out the cat, for a deeper sound.
Also AEM makes a good Air intake for the 240sx, but if you are on a budget then K&N would be a great start.

i'd go the pansy way with intake and exhaust. my reason would be that you utilize these upgrade alot more that you'll be using your "nos". nitrous just doesn't seem safe to use in a car that you have to rely on. i've never used it, but i'd be afraid f how it would effect my engines longevity. just look at what happened to clutch240. also, the nos thing is annoying. mynismo, you wrote up that list of slang words on that other post..you forgot to put "nos" on there.

yes, but the TERM NOS, or NAWZ as so many of my ricer friends and FNF fans all over North America call it, is over-used. NOS stands for Nitrous Oxide Systems. that is the name of a COMPANY, owned by Holley, that manufactures, you guessed it, Nitrous Oxide Systems. but they aren't the ONLY ones. there's NX, Venom, Edelbrock and the one in the purple bottle...can't remember what it's called off-hand. the thing is, the THING itself is NO2, or Nitrous Oxide, or simply Nitrous. NOS is a brand-name. that's what should be added to the list.

Nitrous isn't that bad it just has a bad rap because its so cheap; any idiot can get it and burn an engine down. I know several people with over 100K miles on the car running 50 shots and they've been fine for over a year now. The KA is more robust than the Hondas I'm speaking of so go for the NO2. Its hardest on your spark plugs. If the engine is in good shape and tune you'll be fine and if you don't trust yourself there is sure to be a shop that will install it for you.

It’s a fact, Nitrous will give you the best Hp for your buck, and if you want to go in that direction, go with Dry System not wet, it safer and easier to install, and remove! (You never know!)
PS: I don’t recommend it for some one with mild modification to their car
Good luck.

brian nos is not rice.
arg...
i know lots of people who drag their muscle cars and a lot of them use nos
anyways.............
best bang for buck hp wise:
#1: electrical fan. $100 and HUGE power increase, much more than exhaust.
#2: get ebay intake, then either make your own extension or buy an injen extension. need the extension! good pwr increase. $175
#3: custom exhaust, 2.25" straight pipe with hi flow catalytic convertor (if test pipe is illegal in state).... no muffler just straight pipe. really won't be TOO loud. $225.
there you go... a good 10-15 hp for $500.

dude for a good quick hp increase, get this injen intake system:
http://nipponpower.com/airfilter/intake/injen_nissan.html
I wouldn't buy anything on ebay unless you know the product thoroughly, many many fake products out on ebay. They all claim to add 10 hp when it really does nothing.
look at this laughable ebay ad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36475&item=2437651808
a chip for only $4 and claims it adds 20-25 hp, bullshit.
I'm trying to find a good exhaust system, my friend put a magnaflow on his RSX. I was looking at greddy and HKS exhaust systems, does anyone know which is the best exhaust system for the 240sx? I heard greddy is good, so this Greddy MX exhaust system for $510 seems like a good deal. How much hp increase for the greddy exhaust system?? I know injen adds 7 hp. Also looking at APEX n1 exhaust systems since those seem most popular around here

lol, that post above about the "chip" Just to let you guys know all it is, is a resister that you can buy for like $0.50 at radio shack, You unplug the Air Intake Sensor put the resitor in its place and the computer thinks you have colder air coming in, in turn the computer advances the timing. It really does work but it is gay also at the same time. But, all you guys say you are scared of Nitrous. I dont know why, it is very safe if used properly. I know guys that have a 125 shot on a 240 with a couple of mods(intake, exhaust, bigger fuel pump).

One more thing with the Nitrous. Somebody said the a dry set-up is safer and easier. Well, yes it is easier but hardly safer. With a Direct Port set-up(Wet n2o) you have an even amount going to each cylinder. Where as Dry n2o, is just hooked up to your intake or throttle body and there is a chance of getting more in one cylinder then the others, in turn more of a chance of damage to that certain cylinder. This is the way I understand it anyway, it was explained to me this way. Correct me if im wrong...

i dont understand the bad rap people give n2o, why doesnt everyone rag on turbo too? its essentially the same thing, nitrous burns better than the regular air sucked in, taking up less space without all the toher elements of "air" nevermind that its colder than what your probabbly sucking in making it denser. putting nice cold dense nitrous in and fuel in = more boom. packing more air in and fuel in with a turbo making it denser = more boom. i understand the technical parts of it but thats it in a rap. i think turbo people are just mad when they check their bank account so they rib the n20 people. now that i made that post let the flaming begin turbo guys
