well i'm looking to replace the stock front speakers in my 98 civic and when my friend looked at them he said i should get component speakers since the tweeter is up by the dash. should i do this or buy 2-ways and disconect the tweeters? are component speakers a pain in the ass to install? thanks for any help i am looking for the best buy for the best sound.

I agree with your friend, get component speakers. I don't feel that components are any harder to install then normal speakers, if you already have the spot to mount the tweeter, and component speakers definetly sound better, but they do cost more. (normally)

I have never had a set of component speakers, but i have listened to a couple of sets in different friend's cars, and they are much nicer than my normal speakers could ever be. (I'm in college, no money for component).

does anybody know where the crossovers are/go in a civic? aren't they somewhere behind the door panel

the best bang for the buck would probably be the CDT audio Classic series. its $149 shipped at thezeb.com. CDT is one of the most respected companies out there. SQ-based company. they compete with focal, dynaudio, rainbow, etc..

the components use to go for $300 and now its only half price. not to mention 3 year warranty which is a good thing. :)

MB Qaurt sounds pretty good. Component's will definatly sound better than regular 2 ways. The tweeter positioning is much better...they sound much cleaner. My advice, listen to them before you buy. Trust your ears. After all, your buying them to listen to.

I would say to go with Infinity. Either Referance or Kappa series, depends on how much $$$ you want to spend. Both sound good.
