Hey, i've been riding dirtbikes for a good 3 years, and i've decided to get a street bike. What is good for my first bike? i only want 600 cause my mom doesnt want me to get something faster, and considering i live with her i have to get something that isnt as "fast"
but i was looking at ninjas, old cbr's, stuff like that...but not sure what is gonna be good for a first bike but also cheap...like no more then 3000...
let me know..thanx

If I were u I would get a Yamaha YZVR-6 its great to start out with so it has a top speed of about 172 with a new yakimari exaust. But if u want something a little bit slower buy a ninja

Hey now, lets not get offensive about the HD's being slow.
I have an '81 Kawasaki LTD 750 and its not TOO much quicker than your average Harley overpriced POS :)

my dad has a honda magna 750.....its a cruiser with a old bullet bike engine, the engine is a design from late 80's early 90's but it runs better than most "cruiser" bikes but not as well as a bullet bike.....might be a decent starter bike but they discontinued it this year and is only making the night hawk 650 and 750 which is basically the same thing as the magna

my first "street" bike was a honda sl 175. It had a top speed of 62 MPH. that wasn't a very fast bike. At least my dad realized that maybe giveng me that bike was a bit cruel. He then bought me a 1987 Ducati. That was a lot better.

The Magna and Nighthawks are nothing alike. The Nighthawks use an inline 4, the magna runs a V4, the roots trace back to the 80's when Honda ran interceptors on the race tracks, There was also the 700cc tariff engined Sabres and Magnas, then the 1100cc Sabre and Magna.
The Interceptors had 500, 700, 750, and 1000 (F or R variant) depending on the year. Almost forgot the 500cc Magna, oops.
The Nighthawks were more of a Standard, the Magna's were a cruiser, the Interceptors were sportbikes, the Sabre filled the niche between all 3 levels.
