Hello there.........

Well, I've built about 15 models in the last couple years and just for the last 4 or 5 I started painting a lot more. The last model I painted looks like i used a brush to do the exterior but i definately spray painted it. I tried primer and than Tamiya spray paint, but it doesn't look good at all. I was wondering if anyone had tips on good painting techniques (like even step to step guides) or if anyone knows webpages with guides. I just bought three more and don't wanna waste my money with a sloppy paint job. Also, is primer even necessary or will the spray paint look fine without it???? THank you very much!!!!!!!!

Try applying mist coat in sections, for example, one quick stroke of spray for the top 1/3, middle and bottom 1/3 for the side, top 1/2 and bottom 1/2 for the front and rear bumper, and right 1/3, middle and left 1/3 for the top surface (i.e. hood, roof and trunk).

I count it as one layer, and I usually apply from 5 to 8 layers of very light coat until the paint is opaque enough.

I wait at least one day between each layer.

As long as you spray a few mist coat, and one or two wet coat, it shouldn't look so bad.

IMO: Never ever spray a body without using primer, unless you want bubbles to appear on the paint :nono: .
Lastime, i tried not using primer when i sprayed a car body (mind you it was an expensive kit), i sprayed it and, it was all going well, when suddenly, bubbles (fish-eyes, as the pros call it) appeared. I tried pricking (with a needle) and sanding them, and i ended up ruining my paint instead.:crying:

Anyways, here's the guide i follow to spray my car bodies. NOTHING has ever gone wrong when i used this guide.
And this is the result Alex (maker of the guide) has:

Hotlinking to other's site is stealing - of server time, of bandwidth, I'm not even talking about my pictures. I do not mind you posting links, just please, do not hotlink to my server. The image that you see will show up automatically everytime you try to hotlink to my site. Thanks for understanding.

Why are you getting pissed off at Alex.
The images are Alex's property, he has the right to protect them.

Advertise his tutorial, yes.
Use his images without permission, no!
