Si or EX Tranny ???

ok, while i was getting my oil change done at the honda dealership, one of the techs there told me that i should think about getting a 90 ex tranny. i asked him why, he told me that it's better for pulling in second and third and first is extremely fast and short. Is this true?????
Then i found out that he has a 90 ex tranny for sale, so i don't know if all this is b/s just so that he can get rid of his tranny or what.

i don't have the gear ratio's handy....can't remember what site i have bookedmarked it is. ask GTA...he has the link for everything else :)

i dunno about 1st gear but i do know the gears are slighty better past 1st. i also know a 5 speed ex tranny is harder to find than a si tranny.

if it's a good running tranny and a good price i would get it and sell your si tranny to recoupe some cash...

that is if you have the tools and whatnot to just pull a tranny. i do realize some people don't have all the tools and others don't care to get dirty

Im curious too cuz i went to the junkyard and saw this 91 ex 4 door with a d16a6 mpfi, so i thought it had a si tranny.
I pulled the tranny out but now if it's not an si tranny then what is it?
what trannies do 91 ex 4 door civics with d16a6 have? :eek7:

same tranny...different gear ratios. tranny should be stamped L3
