Hey guys im new to mustang but ive been working on cars for a long time. I currently own a turbo'ed front wheel drive car and its time to do something else. My question is with the 1998 mustang cobra: are all of the cobras SVT cobras? Ive been to look at a few and none of them have SVT badging. Ive noticed that some cobras have those polished metal looking rims and others with the same body style have those silver wheels (u guys probaby know what im talking about) Is the only difference in those 2 cars the wheels? Becuse i prefer the silver wheels. Thanks guys.

SVT, Special Vehicle Team, is just the branch of Ford which makes Cobras and Lightnings, thats all. So all Cobras and Lightnings are SVT's.

They (98 Cobras) have the 32v v-8 DOHC instead of the 16v v8 SOHC in the GT. A high revving, free breathing power plant. You can look at the VIN to see if it's a real Cobra. The 8th digit will be the tell tail sign (if not stock looking) I'm not sure what it is. On the Fox bodies, E is the regular 5.0, and D is the Cobra label. Also, of course you'll see the 32v and different intake under the hood
