painting tails

can someone point me to a tutorial on painting my taillights all red? I have an 89dx hatch and i want my tails to be like JDM all red's. What kind of paint to get? do i need to sand, etc?

i'm pretty sure ci5ic made a tutorial on painting them. Also, some ppl say u need to sand while others don't. i guess its a personal choice.

clean them real good... tape up around your reverse light... tape all the edges if you're anal like that.. (I am)... give it 2-3 THIN even coats of candy (translucent) red...and your set..

so you don't take the lights apart and paint the inside and reseal them? you just paint the outside part that people see on the back of your car?

clean them with alcohol, then lightly sand them in one direction only, then clean w/soap and water. mask whatever you don't want to paint off. spray thin coats till you get the shade of red you want, then let dry and your set

Just buy some 91 taillights.

i thought no 4th gen civics in canada came with all red tails.

Mine did.. Lots do.. I think only 91s. The DX and Si.
