Time to reveal one more.
http://nunocorreia.no.sapo.pt/AF/Stratos.JPG
I think that most of you are familiarised with my love for the Lancia Rally cars so you can imagine how pleased I am to start a project like this one.
Body is painted with 2 primer coats and 5 TS-26 coats and I think it is quite good.
This version will be the 1975 SanRemo Winner, white and green colour scheme.

Cool. I haven't seen a Stratos built up in the 75 Alitalia scheme yet, will be a killer for sure. You are a busy man Nuno!

Seems like its going to be an awesome build. I've messed around with these cars in rally games. They're fun to throw into coners at like 90 miles. lol
Anyways, keep us posted on the build, and post some more pics.

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. There's one of those Hasegawa Stratoses(?) sitting in my local hobby shop and I want to know if I should grab it.

Finally concluded the application of the green decals that with the white make the base colour scheme of this model.
http://nunocorreia.no.sapo.pt/imagens/Cur_02_B.jpg
It was a extremely hard work to apply all the decals in the curves and angles, especially in the front and rear sections but fortunately this decals support great amounts of solvent without deteriorating so with some patience the results will show up in the end.

Yes, this is a Hasegawa model.
If I’m not wrong the second of three different Stratos released by Hasegawa.

Nuno,
Are all the green areas decals, or were some of them masked off and painted?

Ray's Stratos was the '77 Monte winner in different livery to the one Nuno is building. '77 has a lot more red in it, '75 is mostly just green and white.
You have done a fantastic job on the decals Nuno. A shame about the semi-translucent white roundel, why can't model manufacturer's sort that out? :dunno:

Thanks for your comments. :)
I have completed the application of all the decals in the body.
It will rest now for some days before I apply the clear coat.

How's Audi going?
Actually I will resume the Audi construction this weekend so I expect to have some new progresses next week. That’s why I like to work on several projects at the same time, I can always choose what I will do next instead of being stuck to a single project workflow :iceslolan
Are all the green areas decals, or were some of them masked off and painted?
No, all the green areas are decals. There is of course the possibility of mask and paint the green areas. Much less work and much better results but unfortunately I don’t have the required material so I went for a full decal cover. I had to use a mixture of Humbrol 2 and 85 to paint the interior of the front lights and the down part of the middle wing that don’t come with decals to apply but are also green in the real model.

Nice.... but IMHO, too clean for a rally car, like it's getting built and clean, but after it's first lap around the track it'll be dirty, rally cars are amazing at how fast they are around the turns and jumps and stuff. Personally, I'd like to own a WRX rally car to run around the local dirt track with.

They tend to clean rally cars at every service, the sponsors don't pay for their logos to be hidden by mud.

+ a lot of WRC events are on tarmac so the car doesn't get that dirty.
Nuno, you once again amaze me with your decalling skills! very nice stuff indeed. Good job!

Back from vacations directly to the workbench.
I have continued my work on the Stratos and completed almost all of the body.
http://nunocorreia.no.sapo.pt/imagens/CUR_02_D.jpg
There are several possible light configurations for this model, this is the one that I think goes better with de car.
I am already working on the chassis and hope to show you some more of it progress soon.

Your Stratos keeps looking better and better as it gets closer to completion Nuno. Are you a bit worried about bending the body open to fit the chassis in? I would be

I sure am Phil. I have already tested widening the body a little and after a while I start to ear that annoying cracking sound :uhoh:, probably of all the components (including dashboard and doors) that are glued to the body. My most fear is that something happen to the decals. That’s why I’m working hard to finish the chassis so I can move to the body/chassis attachment process and see if everything goes well.

Et voilá :p
Chassis was finished in no more than two days of work and is already connected to the body.
http://nunocorreia.no.sapo.pt/imagens/CUR_02_E.jpg
I heated the body a little with a hair dryer to turn it more easy to open in the sides. The important thing is that it really worked. Not much to do apart from some decals and the last pieces to be glued so I give this progress thread as finished. Final photos to be posted.
If you liked to follow this thread don’t forget to follow Phil’s one.

The way a Stratos really deserves to be build. :)

Top stuff Nuno, pleased to see the body spreading caused no major dramas! With the few remainig details added it can only look even better.
Thanks for your confidence in my Stratos build too - if I can pull it off as cleanly as yours, I'll be very happy indeed!
