Hello,
I am looking into getting a brand new trailblazer. The one thing I would like to know is, are there any mods out there for these rigs? I am looking at getting the dark gray in color model. I want mine to stand out a little more than the ones around where I live!! My wife will be the sole driver of this buggy so I want her to look sharp. Also it will be used for towing Snowmobiles so I want it too sound good!!
What mods have you done too yours?
Are there any other sites other than this one for trailblazers?
Thanks,
NHsledding

I installed Back up sensors and they work great. Also I paint them to match my TrailBlazer Dark green color. Also Installed turn signals on outside mirrors like factory style and replaced the rear speakers with the 6 inch round coaxial speakers that TArget stores sells at 29.99 and sound amuch better than the factory ones.

What model & motor are you looking to buy?
That will help narrow things down to what I can help you find.

Check out below... all the mods you'll ever need. I'm adding a 4 1/2" lift (3" body, 1 1/2" suspension) 32" All Terrains and then everything else you see below is already on it. Have Fun!!!

You putting together a 'custom' lift for your Truck?? I can't seem to find an actual lift 'kit' for them anywhere.... Lemme know what you've got in the works and how it pans out, I'm VERY interested.
I'm looking to outfit my Truck for off-roading and am coming up pretty empty so far.... I've only had it out for a bit of shallow mud runnin so far, so I'm not sure of it's 'real' capabilities yet, any input? I'll be doing mostly: truck trails, snow, and random nastiness, no rock crawling and such, just mud and sand. :evillol:
I'm def going to go with an intake but, I'm also eyeing up the throttle body spacer and Jet chip too. Anyone have any experience with them?
Also trying to decide on a tire for this toy. I drive about 70miles a day for work but I want something with some balls for when I decide to hit the nastiness... suggestions?

I found a 1.25" spacer for the suspension from Suspensionmaxx.com and I found a 3" body lift from custom motorsports in california. I've taken my beast muddin' and it handles stuff well even in 2 HI while some of the real "trucks" are in 4 HI. Pussies!!! After the lift(s) it's 265's or 285's. All terrain TA's of course.

What brand Back-up sensors did you get and how did you mount them. I am thinking about doing this mod as well for my Dark Gray 04 Trailblazer LS. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on the Lift kits and spacers! I'm look at the same rig now, 3" body lift and spacers. That should be MORE than enough to get me anywhere I'm stupid enough to take a Brand New truck. JUST in case I think I'm gonna get either a light bar or brush bar and mount some lights and probably a winch....
Some engine bay goodies: intake, TB spacer, maybe stage 1 chip and the truck should be ready hit the slop.
I'm definitely eyeing up the 265/75/R16 All Terrain T/A's.. I put 'em through a coversion... that's a 32x10.50!! Hell of a good size for a daily drivin mud buggy.
a nice converter with speedometer AND Odometer offsets available here:

keep us posted for sure man, if you beat me to the punch on the mods, I wanna see how they work out since they are pretty much a definite on my shopping list now. and nice website, BTW

I don't remember the Brand but I will provide it to tomorrow since I ahve the Box at my home Garage. I found these at Circuit City in Orlando FL. I just came back from El Paso TX and they said that they don't carry them no more since most of the people we're scared to install them.
First I removed the Bumper cover which is very easy. You need to see whats behind it since you need to drill 4 7/8" holes. For this you need a special tool that looks like a spark plug remover with teeth at the end and a little drill at the center. You can connect the Positive wire to the Trailer Electrical connection becuase if you use the Back up lights wire it will activate the Backup sensors. Later on will provide more info.

Cool, can't wait for the information. Ive got several questions to ask if you don't mind answering. Could you tell me if tapping into the trailering harness reverse wire causes the backup sensors to activate when you unlock your TB at night? The reason I ask is that on my TB, when I unlock my TB with the remote, the reverse lights on the taillights are activate.
Also, how many sensors did the kit provide (2 or 4). Is it possible to provide a picture if its not to much trouble to see the layout? How do they perform? Sorry for asking so many questions. Thanks.

OK The Brand that I bought was Directed Electronics Inc and cost me $62.00 at Circuit City in Orlando FL. It has 4 Sensors and I mounted the outer ones which are 1 & 4 on top of the impact area of the bumper since it needs to be the most vertical and not looking up or down too much. Sensors 2 & 3 I installed them inside the step since the area at the center is kind of facing down and will not work properly. I installed the warning speaker under the back seat to let you know that you need to look also to the back just in case. These Sensors detect even the gras of my house. Don't know how they work but at 5 feet away and 3 at the sides starts beeping and faster as you approach any object that you might not see. I need to take some Pics of my Tarailnblazer and posted here so you can see how they we're installed. I also paint them to match the bumper and they look like factory installed.
The Trailer Harness will only work when you apply reverse and its the Center wire. I just joint the positive wire there and covered it like factory style. First I had it connected to my reverse light but it drived me crazy every time I open it with the beeoer at night time or my Garage since the door closes at 8 Inches away and you can hear the constant Beep from the outside of my Trailblazer 04. Now it works only in reverse. These sensors can be painted but are not intended to be used on Chrome bumpers or fully metal bumpers, but they work on any vehicle. I know that some vehicles have them on the front bumper which is a great idea when you have plastic bumpers painted.

Thanks for the information. I didn't see any reverse sensors on Circuit City's website. I was thinking of going with these sensors Poron USA (http://www.poronusa.com/index1.htm) . One question I have is the performance of the center sensors. Since the sensors are recessed into the step bumper, do they sense the surround in terms of the left, right, and bottom of the recessed step pad? Also, do you get reliable performance since the sensors are not located at the same distance from the wall (ie the sensors on the impact area of the bumper will see the wall first than the step bumper sensors). Thanks.

I was working on EL Paso TX a couple of weeks ago and visit a Circuit city store and they said that they we're no longer having them sale since most people don't know how to install them. Also I never saw them at the website. Thereare several vendors on the web. Just do a Google search and that will help. ON behalf of the Step area sensors which are the 2nd and 3rd the work excellent. I tried them wit my Daughters bike laying on the floor and detect it at 4.90 feet away. The reason is that sensor 1 and 4 which are at each end have a stonger detection since the detect object at the side as well. When I backup from my garage it even detects the column at the sid which is about 2.5 away from the sensor which for me work very good.
You can try install the center sensors on the outer part of the step like sensors 1 & 4. The reason that I installed them that way was because the instruction said tha tthey needed to be staright looking to the back and not to have them looking a little to the floor since it might confuse the sensor. But Yes the should go at the outer part of the bumper. I just hold them with tape prior to make the holes witha Hole Saw and tested them and the worked very good. If you buy them test them first before making any holes.
