Quality digital pics-Comments?

Before 2-3 months a friend got his digital camera home and I took some pics of all my modles I've build and some in the works pics.Today I got the pics on a CD and the looked great(compered to my webcam pics)but still not very good 'cause it was night and I took them with flash on!
However you can clearly see the colors,the shine on the paintwork and some details and I really want to hear your comments since you can now see a more accurate represantation of my models...


Here are pics of my first finished model(my second one however :rolleyes: )which is a 911 GT2 painted in a custom mixed blue which 'caused many comments about the color on the start of the project but I think in the end most people liked it.(However the tire letters don't really work as Veyron said...)

Here are pics of my third model built almost box stock!It's a Koenig 928 S4 and the paint finish on this one is great a really slick and gloss silver...In this pic isn't completely finished(missing mirros and some things need touch up)

My 4th model was something different!A Tamiya 1/12 HONDA CB750F custom tuned.It was a great model and I added as much detail as I could...THe pics don't really show the awesome amount of details Tamiya provides on it's bikes!

The bad thing is that when I tried to take the 'in the works' pics the flash closed(low battery I think...)and I couldn't turn it on!So the pics are dark and the colors not clear.The most amazing of the project was the EVO civic which ended to the best model I ever build it's really a model that made me proud.If I take it back to my hands some time I'll take some nice pics for it!(Other than that there is a red normal civic and a Silver R32 Skyline made from leftover parts...)

Sorry for my english and I really hope you liked the pics...I'll look forward on your comments about the colors and the models since you can now have a better view(however the pics could be better and closser to the real thing...).

Do not use flash!!!
Use as bright and as much light as you can. Adjust the white balnce settings in your Digi-cam for tungsten(regular)light not daylight or flourescent,this gets the yellowing out. Use white or light blue posterboard as a background. this pic was taken with my Kodak with no flash and 2 120 watt flood lamps in reflectors.

Practice makes perfect for sure. Read the FAQ's for some helpful tips.

I do have to say I enjoyed the Porsche 928 model, that looked very nice.

I used thick light blue paper as a background and two normal desk lights as light source (two to eliminate some of the shadows around the car). The camera was on a stative, but if you don't have a stative you can put it on a pile of books or something like that. It's important to keep it steady, because without flash the time used to take the photo is long and even the slightest shake of your hands/body will show in the result. Also use the macro setting on your camera so it will make the model sharp, not the background.

I took the pic with a Olympus C300z which is a quite basic 3.0 megapixel camera. It's limits are obvious when you look the front of the model which is unsharp in the pic.

The bad thing is that the digital camera wasn't mine and I had a limited time to take the pics!Also I hadn't any kind of light source that I could position as I wanted so I just opened the lights behind camera and models...Hope next time to use your advice with my digital camera and take some better pics...
