Does anyone know if i could fit any kind of Honda Civic engine into a 96 3 cylinder 1-liter Geo Metro. I want to be sure before i try anything,Cuz i cant find any parts for the stock engine. Please help me out before i go crazy :screwy: :banghead:

you will also need the Honda transaxle, make custom motor mounts, custom wire the Honda ECU into the Geo wiring harness, custom CV axles.

You're better off trying an I4 geo motor form an LSI.

No where near as much power as the Honda but much easier to do.

Try a Suzuki Swift GTI motor. This has been done before.

I took a Suzuki Swift GTi motor and dropped it into my 3cyl metro convertible, and I can smoke honduh's with it, go with the swift 1.3 DOHC motor.

Where can i get a swift engine from? Would it be a pain in the ass to get in in without a lot of custom work done? Would i need new motor mounts for it, or would it be ok on the origonal ones?

It's mostly all bolt-in. You'll need the motor, wiring harness and ecu, fuel pump, drive axles and mid axle, gauge cluster and dash harness, engine mounts, front wheel hubs and brakes. You'll also need bigger rims to fit around the much larger GT brake calipers and rotors. It's a lot of work, but well worth it.

How much did that cost you? Is it all necassary or is there some things that i dont need?

It's all needed. Stock fuel pump will pump nowhere near enough fuel, stock axles will snap like twigs with the power and torque, and the GT axles are equal length, so almost no torque steer, wiring harness is needed with the ECU, and wheel hubs are much larger to fit with the larger axles, and the GT brakes fit on the GT hubs. It all ties together, so you'll need all those parts. Cutting corners is not something you'd want to do with a major project like a motor swap.

Does anyone know a web address where I can get all that stuff(new).

Only place you're gonna get it new is from a dealer, or an engine rebuild shop. If you want new, buy from the junkyard, and rebuild.

If I were to put the 1.3 swit engine in would I need new motor mounts or would the origonal ones be in the right spots to hold it up?

i would personally love to see a b16 powered geo metro!! i bet it wouldnt be that hard if you can weld and fabricate......hmmm

well funny thing a friend and i were dicussing how a mid mounted v8 engine and rear wheel drive with a forward 7 speed trans would be the best metro alive. besides needing to sup up everything so it doesnt snap in half and have way to much time to do it, you would be goin faster then anyone period. o yeah just dont hit anything or you will die

geozuki, why not just go with a Swift G10 1.0L 3cyl? Then you could reuse the metro axle/brakes/etc.

It sounds like the guy just wants a drivable car and not a torqued-out-Honduh-civic-embarassing car.

It would be funny to see the looks on a civic owners face in the rear view though. Especially if your metro is an old style looking 4 door hatch...

could a CRX motor fit in a Metro ? & if so how fabrication would be needed? what all would i have to do?

You can fit anything in a metro. Just a matter of how good of a fabricator you are. Honestly, if you have to ask if it'll fit, don't even try it. You'll end up knee deep in problems from wiring to motor mounts, to drive axle lengths. Replace the G10, or G10 turbo, or G13b SOHC or DOHC. They all fit, and have all the bolt in parts necessary for installation, without heavy fabrication.
