In Progress: BLUE Revell Enzo

As much as I love Red Ferraris, I had to break the mold a bit and spray this car with TS-44. I was expecting to not like it. But it definately grew on me fast. And then after it was polished, I'm loving this color. I'm hoping painting the inside black will darken it some. The bright blue is hard to capture with a camera.

I haven't gotten very far. I'm still fiddling with the front suspension. It sits WAY too high. That's one of my only complaints with this kit. The other is the seat belts molded on to the seats. Those will either be sanded off or covered with some cloth/photo etched versions.

The fitment of the Revell kit is awesome. If this kit is any indication of the future Revell releases we're all in for some treats from them. I bought a second one right away.

I also have the Tamiya version, but I'm waiting for the Scale Motorsports detail kit to start that kit. It's supposed to be out this month. We'll see?? That one will be Yellow.

Any suggestions for the 3rd car? I'm thinking Bright Orange or Light Gunmetal.

Here's where it stands so far. More to come. Comments welcome.

That is going to look real nice.

TS-44, was that from a spray can?

That paint job is da-bomb.

Wow, the color looks totally different in these pics than it does in person! It's much darker and much more vivid in person...and I agree, after seeing it at our meeting the color is great on this model. Was also cool to go see the 1:1 Enzo at lunch on Monday. Still don't care for the red...but it was sweet. All that carbon fiber on the interior and engine intake was very shiny...every kit I've seen looks wrong in this regard. The C/F decals need to be painted and buffed w/a very thick, smooth coat of clear to look like the real thing. The C/F on the headlights was not shiny. Couldn't see the rest, it was closed up and roped off.

I just picked the Revell kit up at Hobby Lobby w/my 1/2 off coupon, can't complain at all about a $6.50 Enzo! I'll build my Tamiya Enzo w/all the goodies (but I doubt I'll do all that carbon fiber...decals wear me out). So the Revell kit may be a donor for engine/wheels for one of my SAS Stradale-body equipped Modena tuners.

I'm shocked how good the Revell kit is. It's 90% as good as the Tamiya kit. It's the first Revell AG kit that I've ever seen made in China...that's why the quality is so high. The Revell AG kits from Poland, Czechoslovakia, Italy and France suck by comparison. And at $6.50, it was 1/4 what I paid for my Tamiya Enzo at wholesale cost. Of course I've probably spent $60 on photoetch, screen, and machined detail parts. Since Ferraris are our club theme for 2004, that's when I'll build mine.

Kind of a Bugatti color if you ask me, and what would Il Commendatore think of that? :iceslolan

I kid, I kid. It looks really good and that light blue really takes some bulk out of the look of the car. I can't wait to see this one upon its wheels.

that is one sweet paintjob!

for the other enzo i would suggest maybe a midnight blue colour or white! I know some people don't like the look of a white enzo, but what can I say? White paintjobs have really grown on me! :smokin:

I totally agree. From the pics the Revell Enzo looks real good.
I hope that this is a sign of a quality increase in future releases form Revell. It will be good if we have more good options to chose from.
As for your Enzo it’s the first time I see one painted that colour, and I really like it. Your paint job is brilliant and also help on a good first impression.
Keep us well informed on the progresses on the engine and interiors.

Sweet color for a sweet car. I like it!!! Can't wait to see more.

As for the color for the 3rd car, dare to be different. How 'bout a color shift Enzo to really bring out the smooth curves of this Italian beauty. :naughty:

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys..

An all carbon fiber version would be really cool. I'm liking that idea.

The chameleon job sounds interesting too. I've seen some dark blue to purple chameleon nailpolish that would look hot on this car.. It's like $8 for one of those little bottles though.

Thanks for the suggestions guys..

I'll get some work done on her this weekend hopefully

More to come..

I think that Bright Orange on the Enzo would be VERY hot, especially with your glass smooth body-painting skills.
It'll be different too, not many people have done cars in Bright Orange, and I'm sure that no one has done a Ferrari in Bright Orange.

I, being a purist, am trying hard not to like it, but I can't help myself! Looks especially good in that second pic there. I'll be waiting for more progress!

I'm keeping my eye on this project to draw inspiration from for when I do my chrome yellow enzo. :evillol:

I got a bit more done on this kit. I'm still playing with the front suspension, but it's coming along well.

I've painted the inside of the body and engine bay. and installed the headlights, tail lights and all the side marker lights.

Before gluing in the taillights I lined the holes with bare metal foil. It really helped to brighten up those lights.

Some of the mesh on the intakes is now done, and the door rubbers were also painted.

Well gentlemen, it's been about 3 months since I've made any noticeable progress on this one, but finally I have a little to show. There are a lot of interesting Enzo builds going on now. Time for me to join in the fun.

I took a break on this one to make the blue 350Z. I used the 350Z project as a test for the Blue CF decals. I knew I wanted to make them part of this Enzo project just wanted to practice with them first.

As you can see the airbox has been covered with Blue CF decal. The cam cover was also covered with the silver type CF. I had done it in blue, but didn't like the way it looked on the red cover.

Most of the engine bay is assembled. I finally got the front end lowering job sorted out. The interior needs painted and detailed, and I'm in the home stretch. I'm hoping to have it completed by next weekend.

Here's the pics:

Looks great. I like the CF on the engine. It seems to have almost a blue hue to it.
Funny thing is, from different angles, the paint looks like it is a different color.
