That's a nice model. Are there others available? Do you have the link to them on ebay if they are still available. Much as I hate acquiring things and adding to the clutter in my life, I think I just might go for one of those.

Congrats - it looks great!

yeah, theres plenty of F1 LM diecast opprotunities on eBay. this guy here was selling both UT model versions of the F1 LM...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3553831897&category=223&rd=1

but beware if ur planning on buying one. there is one seller that robs people of their money by trying to sell one particular F1 LM...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3556609569&category=223

if you check his feedback, you will notice a lot of complaints. some of them by those that tried to buy that model

Stratoraptor is right on. I bought mine from eBay seller "hobbyroger" who is in Brasil. For some reason most of the LM models are coming from there. "hobbyroger" was very good and the shipping was only $15 from Brasil. And he has good feedback. He told me that he has more.

I watched the LM auctions for a long time and even lost a few. Like the Sherminator in American Pie "It was just my time,".

There is one guy that sells F1 GTR LM prototype models which are standard F1 models and not LMs.

I type in "McLaren F1" into eBay's basic search feature. It comes up with a lot of Formula One stuff but also all the F1 roadcar stuff.

Here are two more pictures:

Funny thing, I bought 2 models and added water, and some sunlight. Then I talked to it for a little bit. Then looked what happened!!!! ;)

No rock... Just look at when he joined. Maybe he should take some time to read a few more threads though. :iceslolan

I'm going to try to add water to my 1:18 scale F1 road car - that would solve all my problems. Of course I better do it outside as the full sized version would never fit in my room. ;)

Sorry turner not tuner like i said. It is turners (well actually franks car) b/c if you look at the site address it says turner.

Peloton25

Yes, drewwtms works for Turner Motorsports.

Frank Selldorff who owns the LM (and at least one more F1 road car) races for Turner Motorsports. Frank's McLarens are also serviced by Turner Motorsports and can occasionally be found at their shop.

That how he was able to take those pics.

I know one thing - if I had to work somewhere with a McLaren F1 LM nearby, I would never get any work done. I'm sure a bit of the novelty of the McLarens has worn off for the Turner staff.

Yeah when i first saw the car in person it was the craziest thing i have even seen, both lm and f1. But ur right about the novelty wearing off, after some time the crazyness wore off a little bit, well not really. But im sure if you see the car every day you wont flip out evertime you see it

Holy CRAP drew is lucky...so thats LM #3, right?

Peloton25
10-09-2003, 08:12 PM
Yes - LM3 it is.

And for me, the novelty of most Porsche's and Ferrari's is sadly gone. I just see way too many of them - I even know people who own them so I've driven and been given rides. Don't get me wrong, I'm still amazed by them, but I don't get all giddy like I used to. It takes something really special like a McLaren or the like to get me feeling like I'm 12 again. Hopefully with the F1, that feeling will never wear off.

One way to get really over ferraris is to go to a concourse italiano. When your there all you see is red. After that, seeing a ferrari was like seeing a honda. Still ferraris are sick

i'll keep telling this story, but here it is again
i live in holland, where there's no ban on prostitution. my school is near the centre of the city with all the shops, down town so to say.
and some 200 m away, there are also some hookers, in the nijmegen Red light district (don't think much of it though, 20 or so windows) and on and of, there's a ferrari 360 there, and it's not there for long, mostly for 10 minutes. it's the pimp.
ferrari's are for pimps. (IMHO)
if i'd have the money to buy a car in that class, it'd be a T44R or some other fancy ORIGINAL car, noone else has.
just my 2cts

It's hard to explain. The novelty hasn't worn off that much. I won't give out exact details but the car is kept pretty much out of sight. It's not out in our showroom and we don't usually put outside for display. We sell high-performance BMW parts so we're not a museum. But, it's great when any of the F1s are "out in the open" for people to examine (over our vigilant eyes, though :nono: ). No one in Amesbury, Mass expects there to be a McLaren F1 in their town so they have no idea what it is. Then there are our customers who get a rise out of seeing the car up close (and some of these customers have impressive cars of their own). It just goes to show that the McLaren is still the class of the performance-car field.

Hey Drew-
Take good care of that other UT McLaren diecast you have. One just sold for an astounding $310 on Fleabay:

I don't doubt that he owns the silver road car, it just hasn't shown it's pretty little face here yet. That's the only reason I said "at least". It wouldn't suprise me if the car was here somewhere. Maybe gerd knows... :D

the s&d application for the silver car was withdrawn, so if it is here, it is here illegally

tvrfreak
10-12-2003, 11:12 PM
Mini magic, it does not mean that the car is here illegally. There are still several other ways to legally import non-conforming cars. Maybe the owner doesn't intend to drive it at all--why would he need a S&D permit then? Maybe he intends to file the application when he is ready to drive it? Maybe it's not here. Maybe it will be used on the track only. Etc., etc.

Please don't make statements like that. They paint the owner as a criminal. I am sure you didn't mean to do that.

Sorry tvrfreak, i was under the impression you still needed a S&D cert. even if you aren't gonna drive the car.

tvrfreak
10-13-2003, 11:58 AM
No, S&D is needed ONLY if a non-conforming car is going to brought in permanently
AND going to be driven on public roads
AND not going to be modified for FMVSS
AND not coming here under one of several other methods
AND blablabla...

Bakasan,
what is your source for your information? I thought all 3 were here.
