I have a couple quick questions about the 96' 2500 that I have. The other day I went to turn the heat on and the only place heat comes from is the floor vents. The defrost doesn't work and the other vents don't either. What would make this happen?? Don't know if this will help any, but it has the 5.7L vortech engine. My second question is, where can I find rims for this truck at?? It has 8 lugs and I have searched every where that i can think of and haven't came across any 8 lug rims for it.

Thanks in advance

You have 2 actuators on the HVAC module. 1 is for
temp control, 1 is for mode-vent,htr,defr. I also think 1 or both have a spring loaded link to transfer motion. The temp is facing you, the mode act will be just to the right of the acc pedal. Check for binding valve, broken link or a inop act being most
common prob. Very little problems with the switch on the control head.
On the wheels, if your looking for oem takeoff's, do
a google search. I found pleanty by guys that do
upfitting of new vehicles, Texas & Indiana. Although 8600 lb gvw trucks will be a bit harder to find.

Thanks, gonna have to check that out on the heat. And I found some rims that are 8 lugs, but i'm looking more for 5 star rims and haven't been able to find any. Would I be able to do a rotor swap with the newer trucks that are only 6 lug?

If your truck is the 8600 gvw like mine, you can't swap the rear drums without completely replacing the rear end. It is a floating rear axle. The drum is actually rolling on a set of bearings and the axle is then bolted to the outside of the drum. It makes changing the brakes a real chore, especially since the drum weighs about 50 lbs. The local Discount Tire has a pretty decent selection of 16's in the 8 lug pattern, I have looked and wished since I got the truck new in 97. You best be ready to part with somecash if you want to go aluminum. They have some pretty good prices on chrome steelies. If this link is no good, go to tires.com and start searching. I have never tried but it looks like they will even ship.

Finding decent 8lug rims is hard.
I have been looking for some 17's or 18's for my 98 2500. I have yet to find any good looking rims for a decent price. The rims currently on my truck are American Racing rims. You can see pics of them on my truck in my gallery. You might try their website to see if there are any there that you like. I did find these on e-bay.........

I like these, they are 22's though and they wanted a grand for all 4.
Chrome.

The company Weld rims has plenty of rims for 8 lug applications. Go to this link for more applications
