Once again i’m back with another question. I just replaced the shocks in my 93 grand Cherokee (the car has about 150,000 miles on it) the new ones fell the same as the old shocks I had in. I mean when I hit a bump or a small hole it fells like I just hit a boulder. What i'm asking is what can I do to improve the ride, someone told me that I should install springs but I don’t know much about that.

Replaced the shocks on my 98 with the same effect. My guess is that the old Chrysler shocks were low quality and marginal when new and so worn when replaced that they provided little in the way of shock absorption. I'll bet you put on a high quality or HD shock and it rides like a truck. Now you know why the new Jeeps have IFS.

Jeep tend to ride rough no matter what. They are purpose-built off road vehicles. If you want a mushy ride, try an Explorer (if you don't do any off roading). High quality shocks do make a difference. Bigger is not always better if you are using your Jeep on road only. I changed my shocks a couple of years ago and the ride was just as rough but the vehicle was a lot more controlable. I chose the biggest, badest shocks they had at the store, next time I will choose the next size (or two) down.
