alright guys i know this is kinda off topic in a way but im sure no one would answer me in the Legend forum...I drive a 91 hatch but my mom has an 89 acura legend. The check engine lights comes on about 3 or 4 minutes after u drive it and it keeps dying on idle...It runs fine afte rabout 1000 rpms, but if u let it idle, even in neutral(it is an auto) it tries to kinda sputter and die. COuld someone tell me how to read the code when it stays on, and also maybe someone has had this problem before? thanks.

that same thing was happening to my crx, turned out to be the distributor fried. id check that first, maybe just replace cap and rotor, they could have cracks in em.

Next time the check engine light comes on, pull over and read the error code that the computer will be flashing. You'll need to leave the key ON. I think the computer in the Legend is located under the front passenger seat. Just stick your head down by the floorboard and look under the seat.
I've never had a Legend or worked on one, but if the computer works the same way, there will be a pattern of flashes. Count how many flashes come between pauses, in case it's sending multiple error messages.
I've got a manual for the 89 Legend. I'll bring it to work tomorrow and help decode those flashes for you.
Good luck. Also, that flash-code computer info is definitely available online somewhere.
