I was curious if a cop car can use their radar/laser while moving at all? And how accurate it is? Thanks...

Yes they can and it's every bit as accurate as if they were parked.

How's it work that way? Shouldn't the variance of the detector's speed effect the accuracy of the read out?

A radar gun can make accurate readings while the cop car is moving. However, look up the Omega effect on radar detectors. Its not if they are moving, but the time they have to record you and the changing angle of the reading as you approach each other. It'll explain to you how the gun can give a misreading and ways to use it to avoid tickets. Pysics is a wonderful thing.

All I can say good thing is they didn't clock me down in Illinois a few years back, friend and I saw a neon blow past us, then I was like screw it gave chase as did my friend, about 100 I flew past him started catching the neon in no time.
Soon as I did I noticed the neon braking and I looked to the left 3 state cops :sly: last I knew I shifted out of 4th at 120 into 5th and was at roughly 5500 in 5th :grinno: I expected for them to pull around, never did. I guess it didn't look to bad with 3 cars hauling ass.
I've known quite a few people get busted this way though..
