Turbo or Supercharged

I know this question has probably been asked over and over, but i gotta know. I have a B16A powered Del Sol, and i have a bright future for it. I am just having trouble deciding which road to take: turbo or supercharger. The car is going to be a weekend driven street car, and preferably a sleeper. I have plans of at least 400HP. Can a JR supercharger even meet these demands? If Supercharged, i plan to have custom cams made for extreme duration during VTEC operation. If turboed, I will boost the hell out of it. Regardless of the route, the engine is going to be stroked and bored to a 1.9L. What would be better for the street and produce reliable power?

id go turbo, youll get more power and then you have the choice of driving normal saving gas or revhappy boosting sucking down gas.

and if you got a B16, I wouldnt wanna mess up the near perfect r/s ratio you got, why not just build it to handle a crazy redline? or just put a B20 under your head. strengthening a B20 might be alot cheaper as well instead of a stroker kit for a B16.

turbo. supercharger is cool cause the power is right there when u need it, but from other people's experience with superchargers they tell me they regret not getting a turbo.

Ive gone nitrous and Sc............workin on a turbo si right now...........but i havent regreted buying a JRSC on my daily driver. If your goal is 400+, you should not go JRSC. It will be very hard to get there. Do your homework and you will be fine. RESEARCH!!!!!

if you want that much power turbo is the only way, JRSC can't do anywhere near 400hp.

I got another thing to add onto this, I didnt catch it the first time, but if you plan on getting tons of power from boost, you dont want extreme duration at all do you, dont you want extreme lift, short duration? wouldnt the long duration create overlap and let some of the potential power making A/F just flow right on through?

Yeah that would be easy huh? But it would be a lot more fun to take a slow car and make it fast. That's the point for most people.

Of course i want more lift, but not much. The duration is for more fuel and air to enter the engine, thereby increasing power of VTEC. (remember, only the VTEC lobes are going to be like this) There is of course a limit to be reached with duration, and that is yet another quest. And as for a real car like the S2000, i would love to have one, but i think the look on the face of the 40 year old guy trying to race my sol in his 2000 would be more rewarding.

ok, I may be wrong, but LIFT lets mofr air fuel in, duration creates overlap, not god for boost, and im pretty sure im right, why are turbo cams high lift short duration?

Hey there, if choosing a supercharger, which one to choose? I'm going to have a one in some future planes and I cannot choose. Vortech?

you do not want highlift duration cams with a turbo set up that would create overlap therefore useing power. infact i believe any after market turbo cam uses close to, if not, stock specs.

i have said this a thousand times and will say it over and over. stick with stock cams when going forced induction. overlap will not be good for f/i. also stock cams are stronger then the rest. i know people whove snapped cams like the skunk2's. and also do not supercharge your honda. you will not meet your goal and you will not be happy with the money you spend for it. the same amount could be put towards an amazing turbo kit that would blow away a supercharger.

if he was set on cams though, he wuold want turbo cams which are a bit higer lift but not a long duration, instead of "extreme duration" thats all I wanted to say.

as far as turbo charging and supercharging which one would be eisier to instal yourself. less work and money?

supercharger may be easier to install but it is not cheaper. and as far as im concerned is not worth the limitations it puts on your available hp. i have a supercharger on my car (which is not a honda) but this one is totally different then anything used on a honda. have a honda motor? go turbo.
