cougar tranny help

Does any one happen to know how to set up the aode(4R70W) in a 95 after a rebuild, and being set back into place. I have the chiltons and haynes manuals, but it doesn't give a good enough description for a moron such as myself. Everything seems to be working fine. Car starts, normal sounds when shifting, but the gears will not engage.

Can anyone help with this problem. I've run out of ideas.

I have recently been told of a possibility of having to set the shift cable a specific way but was given no details.
