my friend has a talon 2nd gen, and it's never been in the shop, and another friend has a 13.5second (in colo that's good for a spt compct) gen 2 eclipse gsx w/o NO2, and he doesn't have any problems either. I've never heard any problems with the new eclipses either.. I have another friend with a 4 cylinder new gen3 eclipse, and she loves it. So either I'm a sheltered child, or eclipses are nice. There are a ton on the road, cuz they're a fairly reliable, and upgradeable car.

oh, my room mate does have a laser though (same as gen 1 eclipse) and it sucks ass, and I haven't heard many good things about the gen 1's though... so don't get a gen 1.

new eclipses dont break down easily at least IMO. my brother has a 2001 eclipse gs and it has 45k miles on it and hasnt been in the shop yet, except a broken side mirror, damn atl traffic. i dont know why many people dont like the new eclipse, but it has grown on me.

For yor information many 2nd gen owners swap in the 1st gen 6 bolt 4g63 because of its strength and better flow and b/c it does not develop crankwalk. Both 1st and 2nd gens have the 4G63 engine just a very slight variation from one another. Any true DSMer and racer knows to watch out for a 1st gen. As far as killing everybody off the line, both 1st and 2nd gens came in the all-wheel-drive GSX model so I have no clue as to what your talking about. I do agree about the 3rd gens though.

If a car can run a quarter mile in 8 seconds, than you won't be catching up to it on a highway or any race period. 8 seconds is somewhere between 160 and 180 miles an hour, meaning your governer will kick in before you reach that speed. Also, i think a 3000gt engine is almost bigger than the 1g engine bay... :D. On the otherhand... The fastest i've heard of an Eclipse running was 10.5, so i'm interested to find out about an 8 second eclipse.

No shit the v6 is bigger than the engine mounts in the four cylinder gen 1... but so is the tundra v8 bigger than the mounts in the four cylinder celica. But the winner of the pro v8 rwd drags last year was a celica with a tundra engine in it... I'm just using it for rhetorical comparison. I was talking about a stock engine... I couldn't believe that there was a stock engined eclipse that actually made it into the 8's.. can someone post up a link here for those stats? plus man 8 seconds doesn't have to be between 160 and 180... it can be as low as in the 140's... don't believe me? hit me up and I'll show you a car can be in the 8's and the 140's.
