B20 Vs H22

Recently I Posted A Question About What Motor To Swap Into My 90 Crx. I Have Narrowed It Down To A B20 Or A H22.. Now The Question Is Which On Will The Cut??? Also Wanna Know What Combinations With Trannys And Stuff Can I Use??? Most People Say A Lsd For The B20 But What About For The H22??? Please Help!!!!

prelude or accord (not to sure) tranny for the h22a.....the b20 has more choices b/c there's a lot more b series engines....

if you are goin to be driving the car every day on the road. then i would go with the b20, because i read an article by one of the guys on HCP engineering, and they put and h22 into a 4th gen hatch which is about the same weight to the crx, and they said that they had power out the ass, but it had no handling what soever, so IMO i would go with the b20

b20, the h22 would make the weight distribution way off i would think. also arent the h22 swaps alot more expensive then the b20 swaps, and harder to fit. my :2cents:

B20 because of the increased difficulty with putting an H22 in a 4th gen.

u can get a complete JDM H22a swap for less than $3k......but so much involved with putting it in

i wonder which one runs faster....they might be close to the same??? is the h22 a lot heavier than the b20 i always thought of the b20 as being heavy also

All im going to say is i saw a vidoe on kazaa of a H22 crx running neck and neck and even pulling a few times on a TT supra......for power sometimes you just have to sacrifice.

Go with the b20 monster, my boy has a b20 vtec and beats everything, i mean everything..Type -r with turbo and WORK B16 SPRAYING ON HIM.. my boy car is all motor..I HAVE clips of him street racing, racing 2 crx's both with gsr motors and one with NOS..you figure out the out come..MY BOY EQUALS "allthrottleN0Bottle"..I wil send anyone the clips if their going to host it for everyone..Thanks

The h22 would kick ass, cause my best friends b18a1crx beat a 1990 model prelude with a b20, and i am prety sure an h22 would woop a b18a1

the only way to get one in is by cutting and re-welding the frame... otherwise it cannot physically fit. i dont know where u think u saw all these h22's in 4th gens but i think u should double check.

puttin an h22 in a 5th gen is easy, but thats a totally diff engine bay.

get a b18c5 if uve got the money, would cost less then the total cost of an h22 swap, 15 less horsepower but a lot more upgrade options.

The 1988-91 preludes came stock with the first rendition of the b20. They were quick, but the motor was completely different. It was much lower compression, and totally different on the engineering, different cams, timing, everything. It is rated about 15hp less than the B20b or B20z that comes in the CRV. There's no comparison on the car either. Those preludes were pretty heavy, and didn't have great transmissions either.

I would definitely do the B20, since the H22 is just about undriveable in a 4th gen civic. I agree that there is just about no way to even make it fit. the block is huge on those. They are several inches taller than the b18's, meaning that it's going to hit on your radius rods, and probably your hood too when it rocks back. just save yourself the headache and get a b20 or b18.
