What kit does everyone like the best

Ok guys I have to ask, I have read the FAQ and read ALOT of the back logged and current postings...what are everyone preferances as to which mfg. makes the best kit...
So far I have been very satisfied with revell.
Does Tamiya make good ones, all I have seen is a few cars. I guess I should look at a website for them and see what all is available.

Tamiya!
They may well be the best 'hobby' company in the world. Their plastic models are awesome (armor, air, and autos). then there's RC!
The only thing most would ask for is "MORE", but I'll take quality over quantity any day.

Tamiya Enzo for pure engineering perfection.
Fujimi has done almost the same with their High-Mecha and Enthusiast series in 80s, but the fit isn't as precise as CAD/CAM engineerd Enzo, which is understandable.
I'd say...
1. Tamiya
2. Fujimi (Enthusiast)
3. Hasegawa, Revell Germany
5. Revell USA, Aoshima, Italeri, Fujimi (non-enthu), Dragon
10. Protar, AMT/ERTL

With quality comes money. I prefer revell, because they are redily availible, good prices. I disapprove of revell (sometimes, they do have some nice kits) is their panel lines arent deep enough, and have too much flash. But, of course, if tamiya was $10, that would definatley be my favorite.

Tamiya makes awesome kits, but sometimes they are just too expensive. So I mostly build Revell.

I've only ever built Tamiya, Hasegawa and Revell kits, and without doubt I now pick Tamiya. Fair enough, the Revell kits are usally half the price of Tamiya but the problems with fit outweigh that advantage IMO. Tamiya kits have clean lines and everything goes together so well. I've nearly completed the Ferrari Enzo and it has been a joy to build. Hasegawa tend to make fairly good kits, better than Revell, but not quite as good as Tamiya.
The holy grail for most of us would be Fujimi's wide range of kits with Tamiya quality at Revell prices.

Yes tamiya is the best, but let's try to think about something different. Take a look at your collection and choose the kits that for some reason are your preferred ones and specify the reason.
This is my list:
- Marui/Tilt kits expecially Lamborghini Jota: surely the best Jota kit!
- Gunze Sangyo Porsche 928: it is possible to build a curbside Porsche AND a complete "naked" version.
- Italeri Jeep Willys: really nice engine and transmission.
- Otaki BMW 3.5 CSL: great subject and... the best box-art...
- Esci Land Cruiser, Range Rover, Land Rover, Mercedes G, Jeep CJ7: Off road contest diorama in my mind....
- Fujimi Daytona Speciale: Enthusiast serie, and this could be enough, but, more, the most elegant subject.
- Fujimi Lamborghini Countach LP400 1/16: simply perfect and gorgeous wheels...
- Nitto Lancia Stratos: the most aggressive Stratos seen; really a muscle rally model!
- Airfix Ferrari Dino: surprisingly detailed and very nice silhouette once built.
- Monogram Aston Martin DB4/Maserati 3500 GT 1/25: Old (ex Aurora), but really high detailed kits. Trunk, hood and doors can be opened to reveal a complete travel-bag set!!

actually, I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I prefer AMT kits, yes, I said AMT. they have a far seperior selection then any other company. they are $15 cheaper then Tamiya. they have alot of subjects that other company's won't do kits of. they have all the old MPC kits some of which like the upcoming 69 Galaxie are very hard to find, and most go together very well, here's my "new" list
1. AMT
2. Tamiya
3. MPC
4. Revell
5. Johan
6. Fujimi
100001. Palmer :lol2:
I've never built any Aoshima or Hasegawa kits so I can't comment on them
my favorite kits are
1. MPC 73-73 Plymouth Road Runner (my Holy Grail)
2. Tamiya 350Z. never had a kit go together as well as this one
3. Revell Integra Type R
4. Revell 41 Willy's
5. Tamiya Subaru WRX STi
6. AMT 71 Duster
7. Tamiya 2000+ Celica
8. Lindberg Ford Crown Vic police car
9. Revellogram 79 Camaro
10. AMT 90's Silverado kits
1. AMT
2. Tamiya
3. MPC
4. Revell
5. Johan
6. Fujimi

I'd say tamiya too. But I am pretty upset @ the current trend to make all the models curbside kits only. I really enjoyed the civic and teg kits due to being able to supe up those lil' B-series engines!!!
Hey, Tamiya kits are expensive anyways, I'd pay another $5 for engine detail!!

i have only done a few models, and not recently-im on my first project in like 3 years, and most of them are revell, and i have found them to be satisfactory. i dont really know wut to compare them to that good though, but they r good.

I like revell because they make the cars I like you don't see Tamiya making a 63 impala lowrider but if they did I'd pick Tamiya. I just don't like imports all that much.
My list is
1.Revell
2.Tamiya
3.AMT and Fujimi (tied)
Those are the only kind of cars I've built

Just to be different, im gonna say Tamiya are the best :iceslolan
Nah, the Merc C9 i built was superb, even though it dates from 1990, the 911Gt1 was amazingly detailed and very well engineered. The 1984 porche 956 was a bit more work but the end result was worth it, especially as it has been re-released with cartograf decals.
Tamiya 1/35 military kits are awesome too, although revell make some very nice ones as well. . . from a plane point of veiw, hasegawa kits are as good as tamiya, but ive never built a hasegawa car kit.
Nut from the general trend, id say tamiya have eay got the best reputation as far as kit quality goes! Im looking forward to my Enzo at christmas time :evillol:
BTW ive just got back from the pub and am rather drunk so im probably rambling as bit :sly:
