im doing my daily look up of cars, u know dreaming of having a nice one....... im turning 17 in less than 2 months, i got a car that is worth about the price of a brand new pair of shoes......
I got a job thats gets me just enough money to get me by
i drive an 88' honda accord
I live in Cocoa florida, and there is maybe 8 cars that might be worth a damn at my high skewl
im trying bit by bit to save up for a better car, one that might be race worthy.
My car is worthy of racing one day out of the week, its ghetto like that, sometimes its fast, and sometimes i wish i would have worn my running shoes.
i have stomped a Civic SI before :)...........too bad my breaks sucks and the next light was RED!!!! yea that was scary
I was wondering how most of you guys learned what you know about cars?
I was also hoping that when i got a new car you guys could help me hook it up with ur superior knowledge of cars
yea thats when i can find some $$$, being piss poor does suck, but i guess someones gotta be me right? :)

hey man, let me be one of the first to welcome you to the world of hotrodding. i learned about cars mainly from my father, and then by doing it myself. my dad was always into the car scene back in the 70's. he had a '67 camaro with a 327 and a 4 speed that would catch rubber in all 4 gears and bounce the rear while getting sideways in the first two. he taught me the basics- cleaning, organization, general maitenance when i was really young. then, when i got my license, he showed me how to diagnose and tune a motor by using tools, and then eventually by ear. (in the late 70's he and a friend of his were gonna open a street machine tuning and engine shop, but he turned it down at the last minute ..... i was really bummed when he told me this.) when i got the chevelle, i taught myself through reading, and then doing, how to do preliminary bodywork, welding, rebuilding an engine, and rebuild the entire car. a lot of it came pretty easily to me, but it still took a lot of time and patience. also, get to know people that are around cars. a family friend of mine owns their own auto garage, and has a racing team (check out www.siracing.com that's their site). you can learn a lot by just going to cruises around your area in the summer and talking to people there.
anyways, when you do get your car, myself (and the rest of us guys here) will definetely offer you our advice and tips. also, there are a lot of mods that you can do (depending on the type of car) that cost little of no $$ that can pick up a few ponies. all you gotta know how to do is turn a wrench!
best of luck, buddy.... peace.

Welcome!
It's great to have new people to disperse knowledge upon!
Well I am only twenty, but I have been into cars since I was 12. Mainly reading everything! Hanging out with friends trading knowledge. i got most of my older car knowledge through my dad. Imort was really on my own with my friends. The internet has played a huge roll as well. The key to good car knowlege is the amount you get. If you go hang with a group of guys, and there talking about crap, take it all in! The thing is then, hang with a different group, and compare and contrast...ideas, opinons, and so on. Pick up car magazines, all types, Car & Driver, and if your into imports, Sport Compact Car, Turbo...Well thats all I've got to say for now!
Late!

Welcome to AF!! Im new too, so i wont be very knowledgable :p
Anyway, an '88 accord isnt bad! I drive a '92 cavalier, learned most of my stuff from my grandpa, but that didnt help much coz hes honda man and i drive a domestic.
I have to agree with DemonZX, coz i got started that way. All of the people at my work (im saving up for a car too) are into imports. I probably have my dream car's worth in magazine subscriptions.
I find the best way to learn is to hang out with people and listen to them talk.
Anyway, enough rambling, see ya on the boards

I've learned things quite a few ways actually. I've learned from my friends, because a lot of my friends drive their little Hondas and Acuras. All of them are nice rides though. I've also learned from my dad, magazines, books, internet, performance auto shops, going to the races, and so far I've learned a lot more than I thought I would. I get made fun of for having a Dodge Neon, but I don't care. It can kick some ass. I done a lot of research through the internet, and you can really find a lot online. Welcome to the board, and best of luck with your ride.

if i could afford to get a scanner it would be no problem, but than i would have to pay for the pictures to be developed too.......
i could probably have a freind scan them but its not worth the trouble, maybe if i had a suped up car like the many on here, i would post it like others but i try to spend the least amount of money on my car than i have to.... i could give u a detailed description, i meanit looks decent........at night that is....but it needs new shocks, prob a whole new break sytem, rotars, shocks, really need new tires, im using 3 used ones and 1 used used one which makes my car ouneven, its lower on one side and messes up car alignment, the front bumper is broke on one side and wobbles, there is faded paint, rust over the fenders, really scratch up bumper, key marks around the doors, and the interior of doors is falling apart and there is 2 big stains in the back, also it need a whole new A/C system and the only window that doesnt go dwn is the driver side.....some luck......not to mention the driver side door is a little off too...........i guess im glad i dont have dif color doors and a dif color hood......
so anyone wanna buy my car?.............it looks.......in between fair and poor.............but i have fixed most of the tings that could go wrong.....and if u buy it now.....u get a free air freshner spray....yes i said free

Nismo, you da man. That's what I'm talking about. If its raceable, then it really shouldn't matter. My friends usually make fun me, but then I usually end up beating their asses. Its like, I just beat you, what it your problem now.
