alright i have ls/vtec setup in a 95 teg ls. the problem is that the rpms seem to be rising very slowly. I'm guessing its because i still have my ls tranny.

That's most likely the problem. You need a DOHC VTEC tranny so you can fly through the RPM's to your powerband not to mention the higher final drive.

Check your firing order. I did an engine swap and had the same problem and it turned out that the firing order was not right.

make sure your cams are timed together. trust me it makes a huge difference when they are off and it wasnt hard for me to mees uop the timing of mine. I was going to replace the timing belt, got everything loosened and off except the crank pulley, which wouldnt budge even with a impact wrench or huge breaker bar so I had to put it back together for the time being til i could fuinish it and I lined all the tabs/marks up and had the crank ligned dead on where it needed to be, had my dad with a couple ratchets hold the cams in the position they were supposed to be in. slipped the belt on and turned it a bit cc to build tension, tightened the tensioner, started it, no power at all, imtaling floor it in neutral and a full second later your at 3k, it used to take a second and a half about to hit 7k. and driving it is a biatch. I noticed that the intake is either retarded far or the exhaust is advanced far, or each a bit off. having really lined the crank up to check yet, but I can see the cams "up"s dont both go up at the same time. so maybe this is a problem.
