Just a quicky, is the 3000gt sl engine in the 3g eclipse? If so, then would the turbo kit for the sl fit the 3g eclipse plus/minus modifications?

I think you'd have a easier time putting an Eclipse body on the 3000GT frame then putting the engine and drive train the other way.

So the engines in the those v6 3g's aren't from the 3000gt sl then?

No they are not the same engine. Just buy a 3000GT, they look better and are cheeper.

they have the same block but the heads and drivetrain config is different
they have the same eng code 6g72....honestly the new eclipse motor is better..stronger heads

umm stronger heads? I didnt know there was a problem with the heads of a 3000GT

theres no problem with the 3000 heads just difficult to work on plus with the four cam motor if something blows....bye bye head...the eclipse heads also since there single cam can produce more lo end torque...

The motor is the same minus the DOHC and different pistons. Where our heads may be better, we suffer with crappy pistons.
A lot of fuel modifications for the 3kGT are usuable on the 3rd gen Eclipse.

couldnt you just put the 3g heads onto a 3KGT block in the 3KGT and have a super kool sprts car that looks 10X better...

No one has tried this yet. It has been talked about a lot though. In theory, it should work, but I fear that the larger heads may not fit well into the engine bay, the rear bank specifically.

Oh woops...I thought you said put the 3kGT heads onto a 3G.
In that case, it may not be a good idea. A turbocharged car needs very precise timing. A SOHC isnt as capable as a DOHC (some will argue otherwise).
Most every turbo car on the market is DOHC.

actually, they are both 6g72 blocks. the 3k heads ard dohc, the pistons are some 2mm taller (will not work in a 3g), and the engine iitself s transversely (sp...?) mounted to the transmission as opposed to a 3g. the latter is obviously what killed the 3g aftermarket before there was one.

Not really that nobody cared, it's more so that my question was answered. That's how most threads die.
So let it DIE!!!!!!
NO, LET MY BABY LIVE TO SEE IT'S FIRST BIRTHDAY!
Seriously, i doubt this thread will even last through the weekend.
