I am looking to trade out my stock stereo/cassette to a stereo/CD stock and was wondering if you have to recode this to makke it work. 2000 Grand Prix SE.

Just be sure that the new unit is not a Monsoon unit and you should be fine. (Even then, you'll probably be fine).
As long as the new unit did not have a theft code programmed in by the previous owner all should be well.

That is correct, as long as the new radio does not have a code you should be fine.
