2001 silverado oil level.

i recently changed the oil in the 2001 silverado and i put about 3 and 3/4 quarts of oil in already and the "check engine oil level" sign still shows up. my question is.. how many quarts of oil do you guys put in your 2001 silverado 4.8 liter engines? i need some answers quick. thanks in advance.

Those engines can take up to 6 quarts.
Check your owners manual for lubercation capacities.
Did you check the level on the dipstick before you started the engine?
