stang vs vettes

For all you people that talk about mustang cobra's and gt's -vs- corvettes. The 03' cobra does 0-60 in 4.7, only 1/2 a second slower than the 02' vettes and top out only 6 mph slower, for $25,000 dollars less. If you fags are going to compare something do it right. I have a 400+ HP 1999 v6 mustang with about $13,000 invested total (car and add-ons) and I could blow the doors off any of your cars.

400HP V6? Why? Couldnt you have saved alot of money if you had the V8?

First off: Get over yourself, you are not the greatest thing in the world because of what you say you have. No one on here really cares, and unless you have pictures of you in the car holding a HP reading and a sheet with your username on it we really have no reason whatsoever to believe a word you say, so don't get an attitude that you are better than everyone. You are better than no one here, you're just that guy from shit-town where ever.

Second: You have to give respect to earn it. Coming in here calling us fags and insulting our vehicles is an easy ticket to banville, maybe you could read the user guidelines and learn that you arent exactly invincible.

A word to the wise, think before you post, it could save you a lot of grief.

Now, on to discussion. I myself would rather have a vette anyways, more specifically the Z06. Having driven the cobra and the Z06 both, I like the Vette better simply because I like the way I sit in it. A lot of people think Im nuts and say it's a casket with wheels but I love it.

Welcome to AF n00bie, though Im not sure how long your stay will be if you keep the attitude.

W3RD And Mr. V6Stang, your car may be quick but I bet more people make fun of you b/c you spent all that money on a V6 instead of a great sounding and great performing V8. But anyways, welcome to AF. Hope you enjoy it here, cuz if you keep runnin' your mouth you're not gonna be liked.

Yea...I'd also have to go w/the ZO6 b/c it handles still much better than the SVT Cobra does...and I like good handling cars...hehe

First off, I am sorry about my attitude, but you do have to admit looking at the price difference Ford does have their priorities in order. I am new at this and I am not sure how to post proof, but I assure you due to ATI, flowmaster, and many other options, I do have that kind of car. I lyed about my age in my profile, I am only a senior in high school and because it is my first car, the v6 was the only option (gas, insurance). But I worked my @ss for my add-ons. By the way, the dual flowmaster 40 series originals sound really good. Once again, sorry for my cocky attitude.

Applogy accepted :)

Now, while your car might be fast in the 1/4 mile, there is more to what makes a car great than how quickly it can acclerate. How well they handle is far more important, and in 90% of the racing that goes on around the world, it will generaly be the decieding factor between two closely matched cars.
Then of course there is the fact that the Corvette is a limited production car, built only as a performance model, there is no cheap V6 version, and it requires no modification to be one of the fastest cars on the street. It all adds to making the car a lot more expensive, and for some people better value for money than a mustang.

The best example I can think of is SCCA T1 where both the Mustang Cobra R (better than the SVT) and the Z06 are legal. If you look at the results of virtually any SCCA race, it will become apparent the Corvette is the car to have over the Cobra R for 3 reasons:

1: it's lighter
2: it handles better
3: brakes are better (better ABS system)

Having driven a C5 and a heavily modified 98 Cobra on the track, the C5 in near stock form is faster than the Cobra on a road course, and that's with about the same money spent on both cars.

IMHO, the C5 and the Mustang are in totally different classes. Put enough money into [insert name of less expensive car here] and it can be faster than a [insert name of high performance street car here] stock. As proof:

http://www.comscc.org/results/nhis0903.htm

Look at the "Street Prepared B" class and the times of some of the other classes...and you will see that a Dodge Omni (which is still street legal, and street driven, BTW) was faster than EVERY Showroom stock car, including a Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo.

Ways of posting proof:

1)Dyno sheets
2)Vid's of your car at the track
3)Full mod list
4)Pictures of your car

etc

have you ever dynoed it?

sorry to burst your bubble, but I seriously doubt you have a 400hp car. if a supercharger and an exhaust are your most substantial mods, I doubt you are cracking 300hp.

You may also want to take a look around at some of the membership here. There are some F'n fast cars around. My 95 should be in the twelves (haven't gotten it to the track yet) with the mods it has and there are people here that will destroy that time - both in the straight line and in the twisties.

The mustang cobra and Z06 will both run low-high 12s in the quarter mile. The Z06 accelerates to sixty mph a couple tenths before the cobra will and has a few more luxuries, but it should. It costs 15000 dollars more. Both are great cars, and in my opinion, are about equal in performance and value.

To Hakka:

I wouldn't believe me either. But then again you don't know what kind of supercharger I'm runnin'. Mine is a ATI Procharger Stage II PS1 Intercooler Kit with 11psi and I upgraded to the 3-Core, sheet-metal model. I expect this pushed up to 85% rwhp gains. I also but a ASP 30% reduction crank pulley, a Stallion Torque Converter and a Venom 400 performance module, along with the flowmasters (2.50' which I need a 3' now). And I recently bought a B&M transkit, which is cool because I have a automatic/manual transmission.
