I have a 1991 celica GT and I have 10,000 to spend on it. I want to swap either the celica or corolla engine from japan in but i need to know if either of them will fit the chases and bolt right up. also any suggestions of what type of engine I should put in....I wanna leave about 3 grand to buy rims and new paint so 7 grand to put into the engine....what should I do???

Get G-Ready turbine / Power FC computer/ HKS Piston /HKS Filter / HKS Intercooler.....You can't go wrong with those choices
PS: Either 3S-GTE or 4A-GE 20V

5S-FE is my choice. Mill the heads down...high roller camshaft...aluminum intake new headers and exhaust system. All that shouldnt cost you more than about 5 grand. Forget turbo...people that dont know what they are doing will quickly crack the heads.

I really want a turbo engine since they add so much more horse. Do you think the stock 5s-fe engine with those mods will make it quiker than the 3s-gte? and the 3s-gte engine with installation would cost around 5 grand also...i dunno. cause since the 3s-gte is built internaly for more power wouldnt it be better to just go with that one? or buy new internals for the 5s-fe thats already in there?

Here, let me be completely anti-helpful.
Try putting a 7M-GTE from an MKIII supra in it and tell me how it goes!
Sorry check out my thread above and you'll get it :P
Personally if you want ease and turbo, drop in a 3s-gte. You can get a little more power out of a 5s-fe w/ a turbo kit, but it'll cost a ton more. If you can give up the turbo I'm growing kinda fond of kingofchighs' idea of improving the compression of the 5s-fe. It is a badass little engine, for a 4cyl.
Anyway, just my two cents.

Now now, lets not get ahead of ourselves. I'm a fan of that course of action, I still love turbos ;)
