1999 Firebird Ignition Security Mode Problems

Every other day or so when starting my car it apparently goes into "Security Mode". I get nothing - no sound what-so-ever - and the "Security" light comes on. I then have to sit there and wait for the light to go off and try again to start it. So far it starts on the second try. The dealer says there is no way to check what is wrong, that it needs to do it for him. He thought it was the key, but it will happen with both keys and both keys will start it. The light also comes on sometimes when I am driving but nothing seems to happen and after a few minutes it just goes off. Please help, I know I am going to get stranded sooner or later.

If the Security light comes on, there is a code stored in the PCM or BCM that will assist with diagnostics.
What may be happening is the security system is going into "Tamper Mode" where the car won't start and the light will flash for about 3 minutes before you can try to start it again.
Take it back and have them check the codes and perform the Theft Deterant Diagnostic circuit check.

i would have them run the codes there is always a way to check something that is contolled by the com u think GM are idiots that wouldnt leave u hanging but it also could be the tranformer in the key thats GMs security feature
i would also have them check the systems wirring because it sounds like it gets triggered by a ground out but ya the com would hold the data to your problem :banghead:
