1. Working at the back of the headlight, remove the rear protective cover. This will expose the connector fitted to the rear of the bulb. Carefully remove this.
2. You will now see the three terminals on the rear of the headlight bulb. The bulb is held in the headlight unit by a spring clip. Remove the clip and take out the bulb.
3. Replace the bulb, being careful not to touch the glass of the new bulb. They get very hot when lit, and the marks left by your fingers can cause them to blow.
4. Replace the spring clip and refit the rear protective cover.
hope that helps ya

thanks for the walkthru for a PRE-2000 civic. but I run a 2000 Si, one cannot manuever your hand to unclip the housing without removing the battery, the front clip, and the entire untis themselves. what i am looking for is a walkthru of how to get to the damned lights. next time you see an Si, ask the owner to pop the hood and you will understand my perplexion.
yes

Wait a minute...
Is this the same layout as yours, VortechCivicSTL?
http://streamlinemotorsports.com/project_civic/super_charger.jpg
Isn't this the same on all SI's?
Anyway, to get to your headlights:
passenger side
Remove some parts of the airbox (not the battery) to access that one. (Perhaps, the top part shall suffice...)
driver's side
Pull up your power steering fluid-thingie and set aside (DO NOT REMOVE!!!) to access that one.
Good Luck! ;)

yeah man i don't know what your bitchin about
it's not hard to change a light bulb man...
even in an si, granted it's harder and a pain in the ass but it's still simple
on the drivers side just move the damn fluid container and squeeze your hand in there... and the passenger, just squeeze a hand in there no need to move anything not even the air box....
christ the hardest part is puttin the damn clips back in place...
just shove a hand in there and poke around till ya get it man

dude, 1996 to 2000 honda civics are virtually identical. something as simple as changing a headlight bulb should be self explanatory, provided you have the common sense it takes to actually be a mechanic. anyway, at the most, ona 2000 si you might have to r&r the power steering revisor, if you have fat arms and hands. then unplug the harness from the lamp. slide off the rubber boot. unclip the headlamp and remove. reverse for installation.
