ok i wanna go turbo, but b4 i do i need to upgrade some stuff to handle the extra hp and tq. im either gonna get the baer claw http://www.baer.com/Products/BrakeSystems.aspx or the aem four piston brake system http://www.aempower.com/product_brake.asp. if i had the money, i would go with brembo but that cost over $2300, and thats just for the front. if anyone has any input on which one is better or if u have one of these install let me know.
heres what i know so far, with baer numerous car companies have used their systems to upgrade the oem brakes in thier high performance cars, which is a high plus.
however aem had made some really outstanding products for cars and this looks to be one of them. it would also match my aem cai for several months until i get my turbo. also the way it looks is sweet too since it matches my teg color.
right now im kinda leaning toward the aem, but not positive yet.

I would go with the Baer set-up, they are a company that deals with brakes, brakes, & brakes. Not like AEM, which does a bit of every thing. Don't get me wrong AEM is still a good set-up.
Brembo's:naughty:
How about some Ferrari F40 brakes? 6 piston calipers on 13" rotors(i think, possibly larger). One of the M3 race cars we work on has the F40 set-up, supra race car has Porsche brakes, not sure from what.
If you do upgrage to larger calipers, their full potenial won't be achieved unless a larger master cylinder & better brake booster is installed.
I'm glad your thinkin' about stopping power before its too late, like lots of people seem to do.
A fast car to me is one that can accelerate quickly, handle very well, & stop FAST & straight. There should be a new type of racing - 1000' straight into a flat tight turn followed by a fast banked corner & stopping after a certain point - total elapsed time. F1 cars would do very well on a track like with all that traction control & ABS crap.

thanks for the reply, i guess other people don't have much knowledge on brakes. also i was thinking of only just getting the upgrades in the front since this is where its mostly needed, my question is, will this be a good idea or would it be better to save up more money to get both? i know its better to replace all of them at the same time just like tires, but im thinking why replace something that isn't broken and doesn't really need an upgrade? the front brakes no matter what has to go but what about the rear brakes and if only the front gets replaced will this create a problem? i wanna get it installed asap (next month) so at that time replacing the left piece of crap c.v. shaft i purchased from auto zone with some hi performance ones.
oh and i agree with u about having a fast car. the ability to stop fast and safely is paramount then just having a fast car itself.

There wont be any problems if you do the fronts alone, besides increased front braking power. For the rears you could always do some Brembo blanks or dimpled/slotted rotors(cross-drilled rotors can crack - if you can get your rotors to glow red-hot then cross-drilled will serve a purpose) with some nice EBC Green Stuff brake pads.
Unless your car is an all out race car I wouldn't bother with the 4 piston calipers since you'll never need their capabilities. 2 piston is good for semi-quick cars/racing. Take the money you have spent on the pistons & put that towards a nice (1)racing seat or 2 semi-nice seats. Racing seats are like helmets in a way, the more you pay the better it feels/fits. Do you have a $50 ass or a $600 ass?
I would choose the $600 seat - I rode in some shitty APC seat - JUNK ASS!
When you do an upgrade like larger brakes, I would recommend braking normally for the first 1,000 miles. After you get the feel you can stomp on them. If you plan on road racing use an adjustable in-car proportioning valve, be very careful if using a prop. valve on the street. Know what the adjustmenst do & were to set for street driving - which would be different than a racing adjustment.

honestly i don't know how far my teg will go. when i first bought, it was for the purpose of a daily driver (point a to point b). then my tires were getting bald so i got new tires and rims to make it look nice. some one then rear ended my stock hood, after searching i found out a cb hood was less expensive than an oem hood and to me it looks better. now i want to go turbo and my goal is 13's, but hell its starting to be more of a project and u never know this teg might even hit 11's or maybe even 10's. pretty soon im gonna have to buy another point a to point b car (maybe a 1972 mach 1) since i want both american muscle and japanese tech.

LOL that is how it started with me as well. I think that is the way it starts for alot of people :p
AS far as the topic i have heard of people having problems with the AEM calipers. I would definatly go with baer or get a ryans motorsports brake kit if they still make them, not sure if they still make them or not but I know alot of SCCA racers like them, they don't have the big rotor look though just function.

thanks for the info whtteg, i'll take that into consideration. did u find out how well they perform and did aem fix the problem? oh another thing was it the same aem brake system that i want? i don't know if u noticed, but i really like how the aem looks compare to the baer. so if aem's performance and reliablity is corrected and matches the baer i would love to have those instead.
going back to jackassi and you comment on a $50 or $600 ass(which kinda confuse me for a sec). to me if i was gonna get something for my body part it wouldn't be for my ass. instead i have get something more important, my head. so should i go buy a helmet and drive around town with it? lol  im sorry that was so too funny just thinking about it. also those apc items to me is crap, a good way of wasting money. right now my seats are fine, so there no rush in removing those anytime soon. also if i had around a 1000 to spend i would rather use it on performance than seats, unless of course they are really uncomfortable like a seat spring digging in my ass.
