I just bought a D16Y8.....and the distributor cap seems to be a little dirty...(screaming for a change)

I was wondering how hard it is to change it?

Hey, tune-ups are the easiest thing in the world on a honda. A distributor cap will only take you a couple mins. And since you just bought it, Get a new distributor cap and rotor, and wires, plugs, and also a fuel filter. takes only a few minutes for all that. Civics are very easy to do.

Remove the old distributor cap(3 bolts 8mmor 10mm) w/ plug wires attached
Install new cap & tighten gently, its plastic & will crack if over-tightened. switch plug wires over to the new cap in the same spots.

I agree with Hondaracer, basic tune-up stuff he listed is very simple with the right tools. Like he said it would be wise to replace the rotor while the cap is off. Its only a few bucks. Make sure the screw has thread lock on it, honda rotor comes with screw & thread lock applied.

To replace the rotor:
Dizzy cap off
You may need to turn the engine to get at the screw
Remove screw then rotor
Reverse for install - you cant mess it up. You could, but it would be pretty hard to.
