Hello All!! I Have A 1994 Continental Signature Series And I'm Having Trouble With The Transmission. When The Engine Is Cold The Tranny Works Ok, However When The Tranny Heats Up The Tranny Has A Hard Time Engaging After I Stop At A Light, stop Sign, etc. I Have To Step All The Way On The Gas For It To Move, And Doing So Makes The Car Jerk And Sometimes It Doesn't Want To Go At All. The Fluid Is Fine And The Motor Mounts Are New. I Cant Think Of Anything Else It Can Be. Can Someone Please Help?. The Mechanic Said Its The Pistons But That Doesn't Make Any Sense Because The Car Never Has Been Low On Oil And The Engine Is Quiet( No Pinging Noises). I Love This Car And Want To Correct The Problem. Thanx.

I had the exact same problem with my 91, when it was cold it was fine; however, when it heated up it started to act up. I took mine to two different tranny shops, and they both said that the transmission was shot.

My '96 Continental started jerking (off and on)at first. Then it became consistent. But not before I started losing trans. fluid. Then I started hearng noises which I eventually got to a point where I coudn't get the car to move. AAMACO found a hole after inspection. The differential gear somehow wore down its rivets. Never got to the bottom of the problem. From what I've been hearing the jerk is the begining of failure. Check the pan every 3 months for metal shards(Metal dust is normal - it will look like metalic paste). Shards are what your really looking for. No matter what, you're headed to the shop. The longer you wait, the more the repair cost.
