I just bought my avenger 2 days ago and i have a problem. The check engine light came on today while driving the car on a rough road then the transmittion started acting up either when you gave it gas it would just rev up like it wasn't in drive or it would stay in 2nd gear and not shift. But if you stop the car and shut it off and waite about 5 seconds then start it again it would shift perfect.Would and sensor cause this problem? Or is my tranny shot? PLEASE HELP!!

heh mines in the shop for that now...

what my problem was the solenoids on the A604 are external so debris built up and ended up in the transmission... ur tranny is shot, $1200+ for my repairs

There's a possibility that you've got a pump out. There's a pump that forces Transmission fluid into the mechs that shift your gears. If that pump goes out then you can't shift. I had another car that was doing the same thing for me. Have it checked out.

Or you could be suffering from the #1 cause of transmission issues with Chrysler A-604 transmissions, you have the wrong transmission fluid in. Drain it out and run yourself some Mopar ATF+4 in your transmission. I'm 95% sure that will clear up your problem, if not it could be a bad solenoid pack, or even the TCM might need to be flash programmed.

If you put the wrong fluid in any transmission it will do that.

you are very correct, but Chrysler's are very picky about what kind of fluid you run in them, more picky than GMs or Fords or any other manufacturer out there.
