I have a 1999 Grand Prix SE and was wondering if someone can tell me the name of the piece that in under the front of the car and reaches from side to side....My son says its a (spoiler) that directs the air toward the motor.. but wasn't sure...I need to replace it do you have any idea what it would cost. Any reply would be appreciated.

I think what you are talking bout is the "air dam"

Not sure on cost, but I would think that it cant cost that much. Some of the guys on ClubGP have made their own air dams out of the floor trim that you would use along a wall in a house.

I had the air dam ripped off by one of those parking blocks, havent put it back on and really havent seen a difference in engine heat or performance

Thanks Tim for your reply, I agree with you on the cost, Its just a piece of plastic, mine has weak springy looking springs and they are not connected right and one side hangs down. I have also damaged mine on the curb you pull into. I just don't like the thing, It looks junky. I may remove mine.

Thanks Again

If I remember correctly, it was around $25 from www.gmpartsdirect.com Multiply that cost by 2.5 and you'll have an average dealer price ;)

I replaced mine with one from partsdirect. If the one on your 99 is original, the one you get will be of a different design. They made some improvements :D
