Unable to start integ...

same thing the 94 integ, now it doesn't start.
it cranks, everything moves, but it does not start up.
Can it be the honda know problem "ignition"?
and the car's original problem with the crappy stalling stuff, can it be a small vacuum leak? since i do hear a whistling sound near some hose. but i cannot find the leak. now that the problem expanded... i am not sure what is wrong..
my guesses...
unable to start because the ignition system went bad
OR
there is some crap in the engine.
stalling because the air / fuel is unbalanced causing the car to go crazy trying to balance it.
Help me out anyone? no one replied to my last ost so i made a newer updated one.

sorry that there were no replies n the other post If I would have seen it I would have replied. Anyway I would check to see of the coil is firing, take out a sparkplug, disconnect the fuse for the fuel pump, then put the sparkplug in the wire from which it came. Now hold by the wire and touch the plug to the motor were the ground wire attaches to the valve cover. Get a friend to try to start the car. If you see spark then the ignition is doing its job. If no spark then the coil is probably bad. If it does have spark the I would look at the fuel system.

i would start by trying to replace the igntion switch. I replaced that on my 91 when it wouldnt start and when i did, it fired right up.

thanks for the tip, but the spark plug wires and everything is relatively new, its a bosch (spelling?) brand.... i think it was there for a good 6 months or less..

try banging under the dash and then try to start it, that way you will know for sure that its the ignition switch.

it could still be the coil when i had my teg i changed the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs and it wouldn't start i finally went and got a manual and changed the coil. fired right up.

What does banging under the dash help identify the ignition?
coil... as in the wire going to the plug?
uhm how bad is it to pull out the plug connected to a spark plug while the car is running? i mean like if the spark plug is working the engine will start shaking, if the plug is not working then the engine will just stay the same..
i see people doing that to check if the spark plug works... i dont know why though.. they said isnt that bad if you dont take it out extensively..
or constantly do it..

Dont take the plug wire off while the car is running you will most likely get shocked, and belive me it is not a little tingle. The coil is inside the distributor, it is what creates the electricity that jumps the gap on the plug which ignites the fuel air mixture. Here is a pic of the coil

but will it damage the engine, spark plug, or anything? if you just pull out the wire plug from the spark plug

Hi guys, I have the same problem as well. I have a 1990 GS and 1994 LS Integra and they both suffer the same problem. They just won't start on matter how long I try to crank it. In my case, when my cars are sitting under the sun during summer time, It just won't start. I have to open the hood to cool off the temp. for over 10 to 15 mins in order for the car to fire up. Can anyone tell me why? I changed the spark plugs, distributor rotor, distributor cap adn spark plug wires on both and still won't work. Anyone have any idea? :banghead:

Ahh, so, Glasshoppa, must use scientific method:
Motor must have three sacred things to run: properly timed spark, fuel, and compression.
Check fuel by loosening the banjo bolt on the fuel filter. If you have fuel and pressure, fuel will squirt out.
Check spark by pulling a spark plug wire, stick a screwdriver into the wire where it's touching the metal lead, and then hold the metal part of the screwdriver (by the handle) very close (but not touching) something that is grounded, like the little bolt on the valve cover. Have some one twist the key for a second or so. If you see a fat, blue spark, then you're good. If no fat, blue spark, you've found the problem.
Compression is checked using a compression testor. It's a gauge that attaches to a fitting that goes in the spark plug hole. Our cars should have something like 190 pounds per square inch of compression. Check all four cylinders. This will help you locate problems like bent valves and worn piston rings.
Don't just randomly replace stuff: it's too expensive, and it won't solve your problem unless you're very lucky.
Do it with the scientific method, develop a hypothesis and test it, and you'll have the fastest, cheapest solution.

Okay first i had many problems like this... first things to do is to check for spark by unplugging one of the plugs and grounding it to ur vavle cover get some1 to crank the ignition, and if there isnt spark could b ur wires coil or distributor.. re gap ur spark plugs... second if there is spark check for fuel, take out one of the fuel lines put a cup there crank the ignition and see if fuel comes out, if doesnt then u need a fuel pump. 3rd check for compression make sure u unplug the fuel pump fuse casue when idid mine i flooded it and too kme forever to start.. u should have at least 185psi in each cyclinder, if there isnt ur vavles might b bent or fryed piston rings or head gasket... 3rd ur timing belt could of skipped a copple of teeth so ur timing is off... and last check vacum leaks air fuel ration and sensors u could have a sensor not working

Welcome to AF.com Although I understand that you were tring to help this person out, we generally try to not bring up old posts. This post is over a month old and I am sure he has either fixed the problem or taken it to a shop. If you really feel compelled to reply to something old then just PM the person that you are answering. Just want to give you a little heads up b/c you will get flamed alot if you bring them up.:)

It is probably your fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. I have had the same problem on my integra. Change the fuel pump relay and this fixed the problem.

Where is the Fuel Pump Relay on an 90 Acura Integra. I have a buddy having the same problem as the one described in here, after replacing the hanger, pump and strainer unit... But still no go... It huffs and puffs and yet not starting...
so where is that relay located???
Thanks!

I have a problem with my sister's car. It turns over, ignites and dies within 1-2 seconds.

I have a similar prob. I'm getting no spark so I bought a slavage distributor. I installed it and timed it it ran great for about 2 miles. As soon as I punched it went out again.. Is there some wireing issues or maybe it was a bad salvage distributor. I just dont want to buy a new one and have it go out to.
