I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX coupe and I was looking into swapping out the motor and dropping something with more hp. What are your thoughts on some good motors that would fit in my Civic?

first off i am sorry that u bought a 2001, they have so many problems it is crazy, but u can swap a k-series motor in there from either the new si or an rsx, i believe that those are the only motors that u are able to swap, and that dont cost like 10k to swap

no, the K series doesnt swap into that car. that is still based on the platform of all the 92+ civics are. the only motor to swap into there would be the B series motors. The only civic you can do the K series swap into is the new civic si, and thats just going from the base model to the Type S or Type R. i have seen people drop K20's into those civic, but it just didnt work real well.

sorry to say but a k-series swap is the only legal swap, so if u have emmisions testings and u want to pass them u have to get a k-series. i have seen the rsx motor in a 7th gen before so dont say that it can only be swapped into the new si. i have never seen anyone be able to swap the b series into the 7th gens

I'm not to worried about passing emmisions tests. In fact I do wanna get rid of as much emmisions as I can, you know, to try and clean up the engine compartment. So given that emmisions is not an issue, what else might fit? I have read that the K-series will fit in all 2001 civic's except the si.

what do u mean by getting rid of emmisions? do u know what that is, it is government testing on your car and if they see u have a motor swap, they will question u about what year car it came from, and if it is older then your car, then it is illegal and then u pay some big fines

allright whatever. if you look at the layout of the 7th gens, they are the same as the previous civics. I had a fight on another board a while back about how i thought it would be the K20 also..boy did they ever rip me a new one and tell me that B series are about the only ones that will fit. Im just goin by what i heard and what ive seen. Post up some pics or links of the K20 going into a 7th gen...

I saw the magazine-featured 2001 Civic 4-dr with a K20 swap with my own eyes...it was built here in PHX by HASPORT, where I got my custom-ECU from Joe, who works there, for my old b16 set-up.
BTW, here: http://www.wholehyper.com/engine/rsx-mounts.html
Edit: I forgot all about hybridsol, who is a respected member of AF. He posted pics A WHILE BACK, of his friend's 2001 Civic coupe which they swapped a K20 motor into. As a matter-of-fact, there is LESS customization involved in swapping a K motor into ANY E (Civic) or D (Integra) chassis than in swapping-in an H22, since the K-motor's mounting-points are based-off of the old B mounting points...just reversed.

Is this better?
Look at the bottom of the page:
http://www.sroperformance.com/cgi-bin/shop/hasport/mounts/
To quote:
HaSport K20 Engine Swap (RSX) into the 2001-2002 Civic
This mount kit allows you to swap the K20 engine into the 2001-2002 Civic Ex, LX, and DX.
$649.00
As for the the link being for the DC2, so what? All B-motors (except the JDM Prelude/Accord B20's) have been able to fit under any US Civic or Integra with stock mounts since 1992. That shows you that the K motors are even swappable into earlier-model Hondas, and maybe even 4th-gens/CRX's, with a bit of customizing...not anymore than when you do a Prelude-swap.

HASport's site is down for some reason (or it's blocked from school), but I found these elsewhere:
