My Hilux is coming.
I needed a diversion from all my on-the-ground sports cars. Saw someone using these particular rims on a Grand Cherokee. Ran down to the hobbyshop and got started.
Due date: Monday.

I like the truck. It's pretty cool to see lifted pickups now and again around here to remind us that there are cars other than Skylines and 350Z's in the world.
Oh yeah, stellar Spike Spiegel figure in the foreground. Hope he turns out cool when you paint him. I've got a Zechs Merquise figure from the 1/100th scale Tallgeese kit where he's wearing a sort of space suit. I'm going to use some putty and a bit of sanding to form it into a driving suit. :icesangel

I bought this kit way back in the day. I was so excited to build it.. I opened the box started to put it together and relized the bed was warped big time.. I tried hot water the hot lamp thing nothing worked so i said forget it and packed it away.. Was your bed all warped up? If it was what did ya do to get it straight? Thanks Later Rick,,

Thats cool. Does the truck come with that big of a lift on it?

The bed was indeed badly warped. To fix it I just bent it by hand. It wanted to warp back, but I just glued the sides, front, and tailgate on before it got a chance to. It holds its shape now, and once I glue it to the chassis I don't imagine it'll ever go back to its delenquent ways. If you dust this thing off just note that you have to add some shims to the sides of the bed so the fenders have something to rest against toward the back, otherwise there is no positive location for them. Besides that, the model goes together with no problems what so ever, has a great body shape and detail, and is pretty much overall decently detailed. Be excited for this kit!
No, the truck came stock (though stock seemed pretty high, at least compared to the C1500 I built a while back). I had to lift it 5/16 higher than it came out of the box. Later, I discovered that Aoshima makes the same kit but lifted almost this much. Could have saved me some trouble, and made it more correct since I don't know squat about lifting trucks.

it almost looks like you used my lifting style. Also, do you have the stock tires?

This kit was a lot of fun to build. Completely different than my normal subjects, a nice vacation. The model was built in 5 days, so it is sort of rushed. I royally screwed up the body when I sprayed the window trim and rub strips. But I sorta recovered.
Mods: Lifted suspesion, 5/16; wheels and tires from a Tamiya Wild Willy Jr.; NSX seats; scratchbuilt winch, snorkel, exhaust; and an igloo cooler from my parts box.
I noticed after I took the pics that I haven't put the decals or mirrors on. Oops! Well, it's done for the most part then. Enjoy! And tell me what ya'll think.

Looks good, now that you have built it all clean, dirty it up and build it a diorama :smokin:

Okay, so I didn't intend to come back and inundate ya'll with pictures of this truck. I had planned to leave it be with the last post. But I had a good time decalling and detailing it a little bit, so I decided I would share my final project. This is it, totally done. Really, my last post is the one that shouldn't be here, this is it.
The kit is Aoshima's Hilux, the one that isn't lifted straight out of the box. They make one that is lifted, and I think I saw it in the classifieds here. Paint is Tamiya Park Green in case someone was going to ask.
And as for the "chic in the kinky knickers" (which, on my side of the pond, is a hysterical phrase) is just one of the girls on my calendar; a Playboy Lingerie day-to-day calendar my friends got me for Christmas last year. That's why she is different each day.
Enjoy, and feedback = always nice.

Quote/"chic in the kinky knickers" (which, on my side of the pond, is a hysterical phrase)/end quote.
Glad you liked the phrase, 'cause I like the calander girl better!
The truck looks really awsome, I'm not into high riders, (A.K.A Redneck runabout) but that one is very cool.

Very cool truck. I want the 2dr version, but cannot find that body style. I always see the older ones. :disappoin
