I owned 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Generation Accords, all purchased brand new. The 4th was by far my favorite. The Accords kept getting better & better through the years. (1982 - 1993)

I might sound crazy but I love the way the center console has that angle on the 5th. It looks very, very sporty like. 5th gen all the way for me

I love my 4 gen. Right when all the electronic stuff was a little refined and the body lines are great. I only hate that stupid electric antenna.

I think the 4th Gen...racey look, clean lines, low to the ground...a joy to drive. Plus the Hemisphere Green is the best color Honda has every produced!

4 generation. Classic baby, CLASSIC!
Great lines...not too rounded, not too square. Huge greenhouse area, low hood line, nice interior.
I see 4th & 5th are having a VERY close race!!

Personally, I'm really starting to love the way the current (7th gen) look. Especially the coupe. It just looks flat out awesome and sporty. That thing would have the best body of any generation to work on to make an import street racer. But like all honda's, they will eventually grow on ya!

my '95 was sooo nice!! I miss it! I like the look of my '00 from the outside, but the '95 was so much nicer to drive.

3rd gen here! My 87lxi has been a dream, except for the couple of probs i have had with it due to old age and mileage. I will try to get some pics on here when I get the body kit and engine swap done.

4th Gen 93 still cranking. 357K smooth as silk, still dusts almost anything on the road. Latest repair new brushes for alternator.
So far 1 set clutch
5 Brakes on front (standard shift)
2 on Back
a few CV boots etc. Light holders especially in the dash starting to get loose.
Now my big decision go with my head or heart
Head - Another Accord
Heart - A4 1.8T 5 speed

If only I could find a fix for that backend.
Looks great coming towards you and then....it passes, eyes follow...and look at that No A$s
A spoiler does some improvement but why should I have to buy a $700 accessory to improve the design ? The coupe is gorgeous all around.
The troublesome, unreliable, break prone A4's have been looking very attractive lately.
(I am afraid I could get ..whupped)

Voted fifth, not only was the 94 accord (the one i own...) the car of the year that year, but I think it was the first to be more sporty and the hottest model yet, besides maybe the front end of the 99's

Having no experience with the earlier generations, I'd have to vote vor the 7'th gerneration. I have the 2003 Accord EX V6, & it has had no serious problems so far. It is full of gadgets & lights in convenient places. The biggest annoyance for me is that the 6-CD changer won't play burned CD's reliably, a feat < $30 portable CD players can do with ease; worse, most of them will play MP3 CD's as well. The car is powerful and responsive, & overall much better than any other car I've owned.

I myself own the '02 Honda Accord SE, and with the aftermarket intake I have installed it makes a world of difference, its so smooth. The new Accords (7th Gen) look too big, they are nice and all but the 6ht Gen does it for me, I love the lines on it, the ride, and its interior. Everything is within reach, too bad performance parts are as abundant. Its like they skipped a whole Gen and went from the 5th str8 thru to the 7th, unfair I say, unfair :crying:

Basically...the so-called 6th gen is no longer an Accord...(It looks like the Torneo though...)
The 7th gen is a Honda Inspire...not an Accord.
So I voted for the last generation of the REAL Accord(The CD Series).
One thing have to complain about it is that they didn't bring the CD6(2.2L DOHC VTEC SiR) to the States, which they should have.

5th generation was the first of the accords to incorporate a smoother and more streamlined design. Not to rag on all the 4th and below but I just really hate boxy cars (except for ones like the skyline...). I love my car! lol

little boxy with the cool pain in the ass flip-up lights, absolutely best handling of any accord, much better than the ass-in-the-air 5th gen

Especially the one that is 2.2L SOHC, NO VTEC........
that's a joke...Come on Honda. That's not a funny joke...
I mean, if they want to save gas, just use the 1.8L on the CD3, or the 2.0L on the CD4...what have they been thinking when producing this out? :uhoh:
Or just put the B18C from Integra in there...1.8L 140hp, 2.2L 130hp?! WTH?!

i love the third gen. i got one as my first car for 800 bucks and drove it eveywhere. NEVER had any problem with it. it got great gas mileage and who doesnt love flip-up headlights? some guy ran into the back of it and totalled it and it still ran like a champ for the 6 months that it took for my insurance company to figure out how to get a report...MERCURY INSURANCE SUCKS! when i finally got my money for it i got 1800 and it had 189000 miles on it. loved that car. just my .02, scratch that, .03 cents.

Maybe because Honda is finally beginning to think about putting a little bit more power in the new ones?
2.2L SOHC 130hp?! 2.2L SOHC VTEC 145 hp?!
2.3L SOHC 135hp...2.3L SOHC VTEC 150 hp...
2.4L DOHC i-VTEC 160 hp...
But with the real 7th Gen Accord's 2.4L making 200ps...those numbers are just jokes...(The 2.0L in Japan makes 152ps already if you are getting 4WD version, and 155 for FF)
The Accord Euro-R is an even better comparison, 2.0L(K20A) DOHC i-VTEC makes 220ps...
Well, what are those guys in Honda of America thinking??

call me old school, but i like the 3rd gen accord out of all of em...they look really sporty and stealthy, with the pop up headlights and sleek, crisp lines,as opposed to the bloated look honda employed after the 5th generation

I am late as usual. The 87 Accord, 4cyl, carb, stick, has my vote for reliablity. The odo sits at 310,000 and nothing has been mechanically touched except; oilchange in transmission once, oil and filter change every 3000 miles, plus or minus a few. Now I am starting to have idle problems which might just be a carb cleaning problem.
However, has Honda been able to correct rust problems in the rear panels and the section below the trunk lid?

I've owned a 4th gen (91) and right now i've got a 6th gen (98). Love em both. the 6th gen is def more attractive, i have the ex coupe and i love the lines on that car. Especially the nsx-like tailights. but my 91 was a great car... much more reliable than anything else i've ever had. and damn the aftermarket for skipping the 6gen.

Im getting a 90' Accord from my aunts brother in law for $500. The guy worked for Acura so hes kept it in very very good shape. Only 125,000 miles on it, which isn't bad. I'm not getting it until monday, and i don't rememeber if it was an EX or not, is their anyway i can tell from the knowledge of it that i have now? two door coupe, power windows/locks, no A/C.. umm not sure what else really. Can anyone help me out?:uhoh: Im trying to figure out if its a EX or LX, and what the engine specs are. im guessing it has around 120HP, but what else. Would it have VTEC?
markwb
06-06-2006, 07:58 PM
If it is an EX it will have the 140 hp engine, otherwise the LX's had the 125 hp engines. Both the LX & EX did not come with VTEC. It should have alloy wheels and dual exhaust, and moonroof if EX, steel wheels with wheel covers, single exhaust and no moonroof for the LX. The fact that it has no A/C may indicate to me that it is a DX. Hope some of this info helps.

I personally like the 5th gen Accords. They are the best ones they made. I like the body also the interior. The 5th gen also had the best looking guages. It was the only generation that had the tach and speedo the same size. The guages were very sporty looking. Till this day I get complements on my car. I also like the 6th gen it was one of their best designes. The 4th gen is what started to make me pay attention to honda. The 7th gen does have the best engineering to date. But it is not my favorite accord. Guage clusters is a big thing to me, the 7th gen guages is a turn off. It does light up with led lighting that part is nice but the design itself is not the best they have came up with. I don't mean to ramble on, all accords are nice, but that 5th gen is still the best ones they made.

As far as bell snad whistles and ride comfort, I like my mom's 07 7th Gen. As far as just a fun and dependable car, 4th gen hands down. Mine had 255K miles when I sold it and still runs like a champ. It hardly used any oil. I didn't have to put in half a quart in between changes. The biggest problem is it had an A/C leak so every summer, I had to put a can or 2 of Freon in it. Other than that, I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car across the country. I kinda miss it now.

Having had a 4,5, and 6th generation i go with the 6th for outer apperance and roomyness on the inside. This is the one i miss more even though i have a 4th (90) right now as work car. But i do kinda like the way the 08 look.
